So I just moved into a new apartment not even a month ago, and my neighbors just told me that someone tried to steal my truck last night. My truck has an alarm system, but are there any other cheap preventative measures I can take to protect my truck? Thanks for the help guys.

Club brake lock. $30 at Kmart. Can't depress the brake, can't shift into gear.

Unless the robber knows of the trans-lock bypass...

Keep your truck locked and valuables out of sight. Maybe a car cover also.

Tint your windows so it makes it difficult to see into the vehicle for valuables.

Most thieves are looking for easy $$$, so the more difficult you make it for them to rob/steal your truck the more likely they will to pass it up.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will take a look at that. I always lock my car and there's only cleaning supplies in my truck so I'm pretty sure they weren't trying to take anything besides the truck

Install an ignition off/on switch somewhere under the dash.
Put an NRA magazine on the front seat-just kidding.

Nice, I do like the NRA magazine suggestion. How hard are the ignition on/off switches to install?

Put an alarm sticker on your car window ( I don't even have an alarm on mine and I put the sticker on)..... do the tailgate lock clamp mod or get a pop and lock for your tailgate..... get a lock for the spare tire..... get a locking gas cap.

I used a barrel key lock for electronic switches hooked up to relay that split the ignition wire on my old integra. I mounted the barrel lock in the subframe of the dash so it was not able to be pried out.

You can always remove the main fuse everytime you enter and exit the truck.... you can't even start the truck let alone steal it

I wouldn't put any gun/firearm type stickers or otherwise on/in my vehicle since it'd probably make it more attractive to thugs. My ex was from Maryland and when we'd go up there to visit her family she'd always leave her glove box open so anyone walking by could see there was nothing of value in there; I noticed lots of other vehicles where folks did the same.

That said, keep anything of value out of sight. Have a flashing alarm light, even if you don't have an alarm. Install an alarm if you don't have one. Cover your dash if you have a nice stereo; I drape a towel over mine to protect it from sun but also cover my head unit. Install a hidden ignition kill switch or a fuel cut off switch. Park in well lit areas.

Pop and lock tailgate lock and hose clamp mod for your tailgate.

A tailgate is an easy $500 for a thieve. My buddy's dad got his tailgate stolen off his truck in his own neighborhood, and they really thought it was a safe neighborhood.

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
Definitely. They know dont make any monies....

I used to have a local and state PD sticker in the window showing support. Some thieves are stupid. But in reality, if someone knows what they are doing and they want your truck, Its gone. the only thing i would say is make it as difficult as possible. make your truck a hard target

I got a pop and lock with a lock on my cap, so I'm not too worried about the tailgate
