I saw this in a parking lot today, the leaf springs look like they're longer than stock and the tail pipe is above the leaf springs.

He/She was in the disabled spot, but the truck didn't even look modified in any other way other than the rear leafs. I'm wondering why someone would do that?

I can't tell for sure from the photo, the springs may have been mounted beneath the axle. This COULD help getting in and out for someone with knee and or other disability, lower floor heighth.

Looks like a spring under set up. Curious as to why though. If it was for ride height, wouldn't a 5 lug model have been a better choice?

I once worked in a shop that does vehicle mods for disabled drivers and passengers. If you are in a wheelchair, the ride height of the vehicle is very important for transferring out of your chair and into the driver's seat.

A lot of our customers had lowered SUVs and trucks.

Why not a 5 lug? Maybe they needed or wanted a V6?

It may not have anything to do with being disabled either. Maybe they like the look of a leveled truck? A lifted front suspension would accomplish that, but makes it harder to get in from your chair.

There's a good chance the truck had hand controls in it, and perhaps even had some sort of chair lift installed in the rear seat area.

I miss that job. It was interesting. We had customer's that used joysticks to control their steering and brakes/gas. Once you've seen that, you are just a little bit more scared to be out there driving around, knowing these folks are out there.

That's a double cab truck. I wouldn't want a 4 cylinder for the double cab.

I think Whipper nailed it, lowered prerunner.
