part of the emissions has been placed in the way under the hood. probably could be moved. don't know if anyone has done it here.

let us know what you work out

I have the same truck, and my understanding is that the TRD cold air intake system is not yet available for our models.

Just asked this week about the same thing. Dealership told me the last change took approx 18 months after release of truck to complete TRD CAI.

I just decided to go with a Volant CAI and it fit just fine. Love the throttle response and especially the SOUND when she winds up. Waiting to see if my MPGs increase.

Don't count on a performance CAI improving MPG. They typically flow more air (or at least change the air flow's velocity through the MAF), so the ECU compensates by adding more fuel to balance the A/F ratio. I ran a Volant and now the no-longer-available previous edition TRD intake and both slightly hurt MPG. However, they do improve throttle response (slightly) and are louder under acceleration. As far as HP gains, I'm not sure because I never did before/after dyno runs. However, aftermarket CAIs usually provide dyno graphs to prove HP gains (I've seen claimed HP improvements of 5-12 from the various CAIs offered for our 4.0L V6).

So do/did they make a TRD CAI for the 2012 engines or not? One dealer I called said "yes" while another dealer said "non."

Fawk intakes. Your paying for noise. Drop a AFE Prodry filter in the box and call it good.

I don't know about trd, but you have options with afe and Volant for 2012+

The difference is in 2012 Toyota added a stupid smog pump to the motor and it sits in the way of the intake. You can use the original trd if you make a relocation bracket for the smog pump.

All that being said, for a stock motor it is absolutely pointless to add an aftermarket intake. Your stock intake is already a Cai and flows more air than the motor can use. Only change you will get is sound.
