So.. the customer has to cut off the recover point or design around it? This is your chance for direct product input.

Just cut it off close to the subframe. A 4" cutoff wheel on just about anything should do the trick.

If I were building something for wheeling I'd do the smart thing and buy a plate bumper.
I am not trying to build an expedition rig, but I am making my truck self sustaining. I was looking at this product because when I was living in Spokane I was in some situations where a winch would've helped a ton. I'll keep watching this thing unfold but may just have to go with the other hidden winch system if it keeps the truck more stock looking.

What about having some kind of hinged license plate holder mounted above? Maybe the holes could be an option with the holder for those of us that have to run a front plate.

Something like g34rh34d did with his Undercover, except right on the unit.

If you run a roller fairlead then use this:

As someone without the garage, tools, or ability to fab anything... I'd rather not have to cut at all. I also think the person looking for this kind of a winch mount vs. a plate bumper is trying to stay as stock as possible.

You'll need to cut your bumper though.

I like that. I hope you sell it all together when you get this thing done. :)

And yeah, I'd probably be fine figuring out how to cut off the hook and cutting the bumper a little bit if that means I can avoid the full on plate bumper option.

I wouldn't even care about the winch, I'd take this just to have the bash protection and recovery points. This could lead into a full set of "real" skids.

You guys are all over the lot on me here... :)

Ok.. so, this is a single product concept that will entail removing the center section of the bumper cover.. that means you cut it out.. .then replacing the stock bumper tube inside with our mount... just like on the FJ. Bash plate protection, winch mount tray.

If you want a behind the cover mount then there is one on the market. Although.. .I guess we could offer both. : )

Hmmmmm... jjew18 may never get his truck back.

Sorry for the confusion on the feedback. What you listed here is exactly what I'd like on my truck. I get a spot to mount up a winch. I get recovery points and bash protection. I retain most of the stock look. I love it.

Actually... I may very well produce two different products... one hidden, cut a hole for the cable/rope in the bumper cover and one full replacement winch mount with bash plate protection and shackle mounts.

Will take a closer look at the hidden version tomorrow.

Agreed. Even if you just get a 4" cutoff wheel and put it in a decent drill.. it will get it done. Pretty simple.
