    Yes the Airbag Module sends a crash signal to the Engine ECU and the ECU then cuts the fuel pump, to re-enable the fuel pump cycle the key after confirming there are no fuel leaks.
    It's in the owner's manual.

    Excellent point about looking for fuel leaks first. No fun to survive a crash only to go up in a ball of flames due to fuel fire on engine restart.

    Very true, that's why this safety feature was implemented.
    Not sure when it became a standard/mandatory feature but Ford has had a mechanical inertia fuel pump kill switch in most of their vehicles since the 80s, they are all integrated with the Supplemental Restraint System now where it just sends a crash signal to the PCM to kill the fuel pump.
