has anyone had experience with the 3M vynil wrap stuff? the other day i almost drove off the side of the mountain trail due to the angle of the truck and the sun hitting the hood and blinding me.
so i want to invest in getting the center portion of the hood covered in flat black to reduce glare.

has anyone done this on a 2nd gen? pictures? how does it hold up to the elements.

if you have had it done, about how much did you spend and what all was covered.

not fond of that product, had a few friends use it on various stuff and be it a fault in the application or the product itself, was not impressed.

I've read where some used paste wax. let it dry to a haze and not buff it out until you were done with your trip to reduce the glare from the hood.

I have a hood black out vinyl decal on mine. I do not have a hood scoop and I wanted something different. It takes up about one half of the raised portion of the hood. I got mine off ebay for $70. Go to crawlorado.com or search ebay for "Toyota black hood vinyl".

    PERFECT Pictures, thanks.

is there a reason it stops about a foot short of the front of the hood? or is that just the design you ordered? in my mind i am picturing the same section of the hood covered, just to the edge of the hood.

also, how easy is it to apply this stuff? is it similar to window tint where you spray soapy water on the window and tint and then position it then squeegee the water out and let it dry?

That's the design. I can measure it for you if you want to see how it would fit on yours (2'7" long by 2'10" wide at the bottom. It tapers. Basically follows the ridge part of the hood). I have not seen one that goes all the way to the hood, but I am pretty sure you can custom order it to whatever size you want. I have seen one that was plastidip, but durability over time would be an issue. And once you plastidip, you will be addicted and want to dip everything! I am 3 months dip free!
I paid a window tint guy to install, $50. I always screw stuff like this up!
