I have a trd off road dcsb, and I wanted to put spacers to level out the front of the truck. I don't go wheeling or anything like. I just want the look. My question was, is there a big downside to doing the spacers? Opinions greatly appreciated :)

This topic has been covered literally hundreds of times, but here goes...

Top plate spacers will preload your strut assembly. If you do not have higher bumper stops, you risk bottoming out the shock and breaking it at it's weakest point, the lower mount. Hit a bump hard enough, you risk the following.

That being said, I ran them, and off-roaded them for a few months, and nothing happened to mine. They're currently for sale, if you're looking for a great deal to level out your truck. Check out the 2nd gen Buy/Sell/Trade section for my listing.

Bw s256 turbo with 3 in glass pack dumped pre axle raptor liner bed and top rails and fenderflares and rocker panels. Hunter side steps. Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
would there be anyway to have a "spacer" machined that went around the shock from the bottom and just pushed the coils up to gain an inch or so?

Cheaper/safer to just buy a set of Bilstein 5100's and set them to 1.75" to level the truck out safely.

I couldn't find the listing, have you sold the spacers yet? What size/brand are they?

Spacers work for lots of us.
    1. Top plate spacers dont preload, in coilover spacer ones do.
    2. If you use a top plate spacer you lengthen the coilover assembly.
    3. Do your before and after measurements at your bumpstop (bumpstop to control arm) and drop your bumpstop by the difference.
    4. I have run spacers for two years without issue.
    5. Spacers reduce wheel travel.
