This may be a stupid question but can that piece of round chrome plastic in the middle of the headlight be painted black also? If so, has anyone done it? I would love to see what it looks like.

It can be done, but i imagine it would drastically reduce the light output.

^ Looks great man! Exactly the same as mine almost. Only difference is my parking light is chrome and my lens is the larger 3.0 with Red hue. Fantastic job.

You are talking about just the little bulb cover right? not the whole reflector bowl.
I thought about it too. I don't think that would affect the light output very much. It would look more like eyes :D
All black retrofits are super cool, but illegal here.

well a retrofit yeah, but the stock reflector bowl would hurt it. right?

P.S love that look, really want to do that at some point

I love the look of retrofits, but a quick question - what's the obsession with aux lighting on TW? My headlights light the road just fine, and I don't find myself needing an LED light bar, add'l fogs, etc... Is it just a looks thing or what?

You could not paint the round reflector bowl part if you still are using the halogen setup. It absolutely needs the reflection in order to give you the beam pattern necessary.
I think a good example of this is my DRL's. Now that I painted the reflector bowl for the DRL's black the light output from them is cut in half...or more. I have LED switchbacks in there and the whitelight they put out is ok but when I select the turn signal and it flashes yellow it is significantly dimmer than before the paint. I'll try to get a video of it tonight since I have one on my build page of when they were all still chrome.

Yes just the little bulb cover and the usual chrome surround, not the reflector bowl.

Truck looks great! I have a 2013 MGM DCSB 4x4 TRD Sport. My Bilsteins will arrive on Monday. It seems that while the 2013 OR version has the 3 leaf rears, the Sport has the 4 leaf. Would you assess that the AAL you added gives the same rear height of the stock 4 leaf? I was thinking that the 2.5" adjustment with the Sport would make it a tad bit nose high (I don't care for that look). Yours looks just right.

Does a smoked lens cover affect the light output a lot?

I have a 2012 MGM DCSB 4x4 Sport and put the 5100's just on the front. I first set them at 2.5 and the nose was too high and didn't like it. Took it all apart and set at 1.75 and now its level. If you go with 2.5 in the front, you'd have to do something to the rear.
