i doubt the value will drop very much even if there is a new motor or redesign

Dealer just called... bumped up my trade in offer to $21000 and they are working to get the truck at invoice price for me. The 4x4 DCSB Sport Upgrade w/Entune is about $35000 msrp so I'm looking at approx paying $32900 for it. Plus TTL of course which will bring it back up to almost $36k minus my $21k trade is $15,000 total financed amount. Also offered 3.89% APR for 48 or 60 months.

Edit: My bank will give me a 2.99% APR for up to 60 months. Making the payment $270 a month. Or if I go through the dealer they offered $277/month for 60months

    Thoughts??

Meh, I did some research and figured I am getting a dam good deal on the new truck and my trade in really, but I just cant get myself to get back into a payment. I have a perfectly good truck already modded how I like with less than 44k miles, still has warranty and its paid off.

Going from no payment to almost $300 a month for the next 5 years and for nothing more than some cosmetic changes, 0 miles, and 4x4 that so far in 3.5 years I haven't needed once...

I think this is a bad bad purchase. For $15,000 I could do a 12/13 conversion on my front end, get new plate bumpers, do a sick mid travel set up, swap all my interior parts to 12/13 black parts, add leather, do a nice tune up, get it detailed, upgrade my in-dash DVD to a nice navi unit, add a rear locker, and probably still have a couple grand money left over. Doesn't make sense to me to spend $15,000 for what I get from it.

The dealer continued to come down another $1000 off the truck too. Killer deal, but I don't need a payment. I'll wait a few more years, save up and just upgrade later.

I think you have come to the right conclusion. I think it is best to keep your vehicle as long as possible that way you save money over the long run. Best thing to do would be to make the payment to yourself $270/month is $3240 a year which will add up by the time you are ready to buy the 2015 or 2016 :D.

    But:

To answer your question I don't care where you live if you're buying a truck it should be a 4x4. I've never owned anything but 4x4's.

idk why they even make the pre runner. or 2wd tundra, or any 2wd 3/4 or 1 ton.

but i think that may just be MHO.

Exactly. I'll save way more by waiting. Will loose a lot of value in the current truck but its still less of a loss than upgrading now. And I have made up my mind to get the 4x4 for sure. Well see what 14, 15, and 16's have in store for us. I'll wait for better MPGs

I made it 9 years with my first gen. I'd still be rolling in it if that dumptruck didn't get in my way...

Kidding, kind of, it is a big decision. You came to the right one.

You can wait and save up money and spend it all anyway when you buy a new truck in a few year. Tacomas will cost more and your truck will be worth less. Just sayin.
