I am right now bouncing between wanting to get the Aero turbine 2525/2525XL or the Borla ProXS series 40352 muffler for the Taco. Whatever I do I want to get it on professionally and get the correct configuration the first time, the last thing I want to do is be spending $$$ on setups all the time like I did on my GTO.

Here is my requirements, very very minimal to no drone. The Taco is now my new DD and I need it to be very resonance friendly within the cabin. I like the sound of both the Borla ProXS 40352 and the AT mufflers but from what I read you have to add a resonator to it (2525) to get it to stop rasping?

That brings me up to another thing I don't want, cheap ass sounding rasp.. So there is my three requirements:

    - No rasp
    - Minimal/No drone
    - A KISS setup (keep it simple stupid)

    Fire away :)

    EDIT:

Here is the first video which is just me kinda fooling around:

    http://youtu.be/BRA_MA2xy_o

Here is the next video which hopefully will help a little more to those curious. I am a little far from the highway from where I live so I have to keep it semi local to my area. Anywho, here you go :D :

Depending on how loud you want... TRD exhaust setup has no drone abd doesnt make the truck too loud just deeper IMO. I have a flowmaster super 10, but its considered the closest thing to straight pipes u can get with a muffler. So thats too loud for you i know.

Also u can just buy a muffler and have it swapped, you dont have to buy the whole system.

That's my plan anyways, because the Borla catback is way overpriced and I liked the sound of one of the members white Taco's with ProXS series Borla.

I know TRD has a setup as well, but it doesn't sound all that great to me. I like the sound of memarios Taco and the Borla ProXS.. either way I'm going to be getting it welded on.

lots of threads out there on this topic already .. search is your friend

You likely won't have issues with getting the "right" muffler for your application because really any cat-back muffler will do about the same job with different sounds. no need to worry about back pressure or downpipe diameter differences like on a GTO unless you plan to go turbo.supercharge later. on that note, if the sound is your only real requirement you just need to start digging through YouTube clips and head to some meets to hear them in person and see what you like

I have the TRD and regret it. Doesn't sound bad just not loud. Ive contemplated swapping out the muffler for an Aero.

The problem is I've heard the majority of the clips and the camera microphone doesnt justify so sometimes it sounds like crap and other times it sounds too loud, much louder then it would be in person. I don't know of none local who has the aero muffler in the resonated style but what makes me weary is that someone still complained about it being too drony at around 1500.. I HATEEEEE drone.

Yeah I've heard the TRD and its not enough for me to want to buy one at parts department.

Search "Flowmaster vs Magnaflow" and go to page 3 post #55 and watch the you tube video. That is not my video however I just got a Flowmaster Super 40 put on my truck two days ago and love it. It's not really loud and the drone in the cabin isn't bad going 65mph @1900 rpm's.

I want to get better sound and minimize restriction and flowmaster does the opposite in terms of flow.

Magnaflow is just too mellow. What's the point of doing exhaust if you aren't going to get any sound out of it?

Just a little update, I actually just did the Aero Turbine 2525XL muffler with the built in resonator to my Taco and I absolutely love it! It's just the right amount of perfectly right. The "drone" is very mild and it's perfectly livable with on my daily driver taco.

I think I will post up pictures and a sound clip/video of the car tomorrow :D

Had my local shop order it for me and install it (they welded everything together, don't want a shop that doesn't) and it cost me $150. I just swapped out OEM muffler and kept factory tail pipe.
