So I did a search and came up with nothing. My check engine light came on today and I don't have my scan tool handy (it's at work for obvious reasons) and I was wondering if anyone knew how to check the codes without a scan tool. I know on the older models pre OBDI & II you could jumper 2 pins on the diagnostic port and the light would flash the codes (similar to ABS/Air bag stuff).

I tried looking it up on Mitchell on demand on the internet but came up with nothing. I'm too impatient to wait till Monday and don't want to go to Vatozone or O'riellys either. Any help would be appreciated!!!

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I was hoping someone knew. :(. Just glad it's not flashing.

OBD-1 you could do it because they were only 2-digit codes.
OBD-2 went to 4-digit codes with an alpha thrown in to differentiate between the engine, body, ABS, and transmission controllers (and hand-held tools STILL don't properly read all of the body and trans codes).

Just hop over to O'Rielly or Autozone and borrow their scantool.

I know how the codes work. But I also know you can read ABS & Air bag codes without a scan tool, by jumpering a wire in the DLC was hoping that you could read PCM codes that way too. But it seems you can't.

I have a Snap-On Solus scan tool at work I can use. I was just hoping to get a jump start on what the problem is.

I hate going to auto parts stores. Plus I'm not going to buy any parts from them so I don't feel right borrowing their stuff.

If I have to put any parts on my truck I will order them from my work (we are also a Lexus dealer) so I get the parts at cost +10%.:D

    Sorry, I don’t know of a way.

You could try a regional forum to see if someone will help.

    Envious, dang expensive piece.
