Where do seat airbags deploy from?

Hey guys, I have a 2011 taco, and I was wondering about airbags. I know I have a curtain airbag on the sides as I can see the gray plastic tab on my roof that says SRS. I also have a little tag on the side of my chair. I believe it says airbags or something like that. ANyway, I just bought a set of wet okoles from a friend that had an 07. I assumed they were going to be the same so I bought them and installed them. I then realized that they had no hole or way for the airbag on the chair to deploy. I asked my friend and he said his 07 tacoma doesn't have a tag on his chair, nor does he have that plastic tab on the roof. My first question is, Do I also have an airbag that comes out of the chair, or is it just the one on the roof? Secondly, if I do have one on the chair, from which part of the chair does it deploy? I would like to know that so I can get the seat covers modified so I can still stay safe.

They deploy from where the tag is located (side nearest window). As for mods on those covers, I do not know. I am sure that it would involve making the seam weaker on that side.

My truck only has one airbag, so I don't have to worry about these things:(

If the tag on the side of the chair has SRS then you have side airbags in the seats. The airbags deploy from within the seat on the side ls closest to the doors. I would contact Wet Okele and verify if those 07' seats are side airbag compatible. If not I would suggest paying for a new compatible pair, your life is not worth what you saved/ loose on the deal

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
I never understood what good seat airbags do. Aren't frontal and curtain bags enough?

they deploy between you and the door (not window but like the armrest and window controls) to protect you from that in a side impact

Thanks guys. Great video too. But do you guys know exactly what part on the side? Right where the tag is? Or near a seam? Or right out of the middle of the side? I guss the best person that can answer this is whoever has a newer tacoma with wet okoles already on.

    Too many to list now.
My wet okoles have a slit on the door side of both the passenger and driver side. This allows the airbag to deploy uninhibited. If you don't have the slit in yours your airbag (assuming you have seat airbags) will fail to deploy. No bueno, I'd get a compatible set. That could end very poorly. That's a lot of energy being released that's not going to go anywhere it's designed to.

Can u post a pic? Id like to see where the slit is exactly. Maybe i could get a seamstress to adjust it, or maybe even take it down to wet okole?

If I were you I wouldn't attempt to put a none airbag seat cover over a seat with airbags. The airbag could deploy improperly and do some serious damage to you.
    Just my 2cents.
