I just bought an Extang Trifecta tonneau cover last month. Awesome cover by the way. Anyways, I have been taking my truck to a Carwash and having them clean it since I have a new baby and work has been busy. I want to know if anyone has a vinyl tonneau and has taken it through a Carwash? I know I could just take it off, but I know it needs to be cleaned too from time to time. Any advise or experience would be greatly appreciated.

    God Bless

I have the same cover. I just wash it with the rest of the truck and use the "Tonno Tonic" that extang makes. It works great! Makes it look brand new.

On my old truck, I always took it in car washes with my cover on; never one problem.

I'd like to ask you about yours...the Tacoma has a larger gap between the side rails and the tailgate and the front of the bed. A previous cover I ordered left an approximate 1" gap. The only thing they included in the box was the silly thin tailgate seal, which I'd have to triple in depth to come close to filling in the front/rear gaps.

Does this cover have front/rear "tube-like" stripping that accounts for and seals the lower tailgate/front bed gap?

    Appreciate it!

I thought I was getting the thin strips with this cover too. Product details never mentioned the strips. But I highly recommend this cover because it has thick tube like strips already attached to the cover. They are thicker than the gaps, so it seals nicely. Now I can see a very small amount of light at the corners near the cab where the sides and the lower front of the bed meet. But we've had several storms in which I've driven through and just parked in, and haven't had a leak.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Mine is off for the summer, but I have used it in the carwash many times. Leaks a little around the edges, but what is to be expected. I wouldn't take one of those Bestop caps through there though. I had a Bestop softop on my old Jeep and it even said in the directions not to take it through an automatic carwash.

Never really worried about that. Had a Truxedo LoPro QT for almost 3 years. Went through car wash maybe 20 times. Now I have Access LiteRider, went through car wash 3x. Both leak a little, thats all. No issues otherwise.

Thank you, kind sir. ;) Exactly what I wanted to know. Especially since the tube strips were/are already attached to the cover.

I have an access tonneau cover.. It's been fine through the auto car washes..no leaks. It even survived a golf ball sized 80 mph hail storm. I did see some other covers that were shredded that day.

I would advise you to NOT take the Trifecta through a wash that has the monster "hair dryers" at the end. Due to the way the cover attaches to the truck, the dryers could potentially blow the cover off and damage it.

A little car wash soap in a bucket of water followed by the TonnoTonic will do the trick.
