I noticed something kinda weird happening. If I run my wipers on low or high, they do their job like they're supposed to.

If I use the intermittent settings, I'm hearing a sort of "click" every time the wiper arms return to the "down" position. It almost sounds like it's coming from inside the cab.

Functionally, everything's fine. Anyone else hear anything like this? Thoughts?

My 08' never used to do this, then all of a sudden it started to click like you described. It annoys the hell out of me, but all you can do is turn up the radio.

Likely it's just the sound of the rubber snapping back into it's original position when the wiper reaches the rest position.

Did you just put on new blades?

Blades are still factory new. And if it was the rubber snapping, you'd probably also hear it when the wipers were running at a "regular" (non-intermittent) setting. Also, you really can only hear it from inside the cab, not from the outside.

Like I said... Weird that it just happens on intermittent.

On intermittent, the rubber has time to snap back into place, where as on the low setting it doesn't, since the wiper is already on it's upward stroke.

    D'OH!!

A relay... Never even occurred to me. That would explain why i can't hear anything from outside the vehicle. Duh...

It's been a long week, and my brain is fried from dealing with hurricane house repairs. :p

100% stock for now. Tint, TRD Skid plate, etc coming soon.
Being the Relay, is there any way we can stop this clicking noise? Mine does it too but only on the settings described above. Its pretty darn annoying.

If it's the relay, which I'll bet you my life it is, all you could really try and do is insulate the relay itself, but other then that, there's not much you can do.

It's a truck, not a Lexus, so it's going to be loud in every aspect. A lot more rugged then a Lexus is for sure.

You could turn the wipers on and off every time you want an intermittant wipe. I'll even sell you a wiper switch stalk designed for this.:D

So I went to the Toyota dealer yesteday and looked at another new 2013 Tacoma.... and sure enough it made the same clicking noise too. So it looks like a "normal" noise the wipers make. Normal maybe... annoying, most definitely. Guess I will have to live with it.
