So, i was washing my truck today, and noticed that my passenger side shock did not look right. Now i do not have any idea about suspension componets, but i do however have enough common sense to compare it to the driver side, which in turn seemed to look correct. my dad said he thought it needed to just be tightened down, but thats just a guess cause he doesnt know anything about them as well. The pictures would not upload unfortunately but all i can tell you is that the passenger side is showing a metal rod, while the driver side has a boot covering the rod. the passengers sides boot is slid down. also the small rubber grommet and nut and washer on the passenger side is loose and up about an inch out of the larger grommet, while the drivers side is pulled down tight inside the larger grommet.

    Thanks

You can take them off pretty easy to get a better look at them and possibly fix the problem. It's just 2 bolts to get it off

Stock as Stock can be with duratracs and a roof rack
Looks like you need to put the truck on stands and tighten that nut down all the way so it doesn't slide around

Ya that's not good I thought we were talking rear shocks. I would be careful taking it apart because your springs still compressed

Do both shocks have same amount of shaft length exposed at end? Past the nut. I was looking at pics butim on phone and they appear to be the same. If so,is replace both fronts. I never replace one shock.

The shaft in the middle is loose enough that i can grab the bolt up top and pull it back to center it up but it wont stay

Pull it to the middle and tighten it and see if it stays and I would buy new shocks anyway if this happened
