    Hi guys,

Anyone bought an USED (rather, pre-owned) Tonneau cover (ARE LSx or LS-II) and repaint to match the truck color?

I just purchased a BLACK ARE brand LSx (I think) tonneau cover in "mint" condition for $150.00 and am wondering how the re-paint job would come out (if repainted, obviously) and how much it cost (from the body shop). This black tonneau that I purchased is in almost PERFECT condition and the gloss on the shell is UNBELIEVABLE..... It came off of 05 XRUNNER.

My Taco is SUPER WHITE Ext. Cab with black stripes all around the near top of the bed and I am considering to get it painted to match the color. My buddy says to keep the BLACK color. What do you say?

If suggestion is to paint, what am I looking at for the cost? I sure do not want to pay more than what I paid for the tonneau.

    :worthless:

We need to see what it looks like black.... But, I'm thinking repaint it to match your truck.

If you keep it black it will always look out of place to me. I am sure there are some starving body shops that will do it for about $200.

Guarantee it will cost more than $150 to repaint. You do not want to 1/2 ass the paint on it and if it's gel coat, it's not going to be cheap as a lot of prep work will be needed to get a good finish.

Check out the photos and share your comments on painting vs. NO painting.

I think it sort of and kind of blends OK without re-painting..... And if it costs over $200, then it is something to think about.

Macco offers the whole body paint for $199 in their recent ad, and the tonneau cover is a FRACTION of the car body. So it should not cost boo-koo bucks, right?

I say paint it.... easy for me to say it's not my nickel I'm spending. I think it will look better white.

That's a tough call!!! On one hand, it will look tons better done up in super white. On the other hand, you'll spend more on the paint job then what you bought it for.

I say to save your money, and go buy yourself some 303. If you shine that rubber and tires up, it will look better. If anybody says that it would look better in white, just tell them that you only paid 150 for it.

    well,

Thanks for your opinions. Got a quote from the paint shop. They want $450.00 to match the color. You know what I would be doing after hearing that "Quote," right?

Black is beautiful and it goes with EVERYTHING !!! There, decision made. !! :D
