If you have a converter that is plugged up there is a reason. If it's burnt no amount of any acid will fix it.

Water doesn't neutralize acid. You need a base to bring it back to a PH of 7. Use some baking soda.

On the Tundra forum that was linked, those using this solution for their cats heated the solution when soaking the cats in it. Did you do this at all?

This has got to be one of the greatest DIY of all time...

Agreed, get that pH over 7. I work with acids and bases every day at work. Metals will last in basic solution but if it's acidic it'll slowly eat 'em up. Sure it may dry now but every time you run the engine it'll have water in the exhaust to re-activate it.

    Don't do this!

Just use multiple water washes to remove the acid.

The baking soda could crystlize in the cat! Not sure if that is bad or not but It would be best not to chance it.

Well, everything is installed back on the truck. I'll be informing each 50 miles, or if the check engine comes back.....

When it recrystallizes you don't just wash it out anymore.

First report @ 52.1 miles after acid wash:

Not check engine light has been set yet. Diagnostic tool reads that on board computer hasn't finished the catalityc converter monitoring.

At this time, no conclusions can be made, lets wait 50 more miles, or a check engine light, whatever comes first.
