    not sure whats tickin under my hood but its done it ever since ive owned the truck and no issues just annoying as hell! i tried the rubber washer behing the VSV or whatever and that doesnt help .. At all!!! kinda sounds like the fan or something ticking but no idea. anybody have the same problem? let me know guys thanks :confused:

    Hello Andrew, I'm going to take a stab at this and say what you are hearing is Valve tappet noise, the 1gr-fe engine is notoriously loud as far as the valve train, mine has done since I drove it off the lot and has never stopped, I have spoken to Toyota as well a number of folks with 2 gens and all say and have the same issue.

    Likewise, if you do a search I am sure you will find more info on the this topic as I have read a number of threads on this very subject, hope this helps and good luck with answers.

    CBI bed rack and sliders, Backwoods Adventure Mods front and rear bumpers, etc. And some stickers.
    Using synthetic oil seems to quiet it some but not eliminate it. My previous '09 was slightly louder than my '12, so some may just be louder than others.

    I had a Lexus IS with the same kind of tick and a tech I know well at the dealership told me that the fuel injection system has some check valves in the fuel delivery block that makes that kind of noise. I would guess maybe Toyota's are similar.

    It is due to the shape of the exhaust manifold.
