After researching Tacomas for awhile (thank you everyone on TW), I am picking up my 2013 DCSB V6 TRD Off Road MGM today! Very exciting!

Now, I am looking at buying some nerf bars/step/running boards and could use your help. If you have some pics show them off here and let us all know what you have, include brand/model, if you remember.

Also, how long before the black powder coat corrodes and rusts due to road salt? Here in Colorado they use mag chloride. Are there better coats to deal with road salt or is stainless the only way to go?

I went with stainless steel nerf bars. I didn't want to have to deal with repainting or having to see rust.

Thanks, I am leaning towards stainless for the same reason. May I ask what brand you purchased and how much they were? I have seen a wide range from $250-700.

I bought mine about 5 years ago and they were just under $350. They are Hunter brand.

The poster above me looks like NFab steps and you can get them in stainless as well. Avid Off Road makes similar step bars but I'm not sure he will do stainless.

Rock sliders and tube steps are worlds apart. As long as you know that, you're fine. I chose rock sliders because I off-road in my truck and needed the protection ASAP.

Mine weld to the frame. They are about 40lb each and provide excellent protection IMO. Mine are Stubbs HD-SKO sliders.

SmittyBilt Black Nerf Steps - says it fits 05-11, but they fit my 12 no problem.

Got em on Ebay for like 350$...

That sliders thread is a good one, thanks for pointing it out. I like the simplicity of sliders and the black would look good on my truck.
