I got a quote for the Bilstein 5100s to be installed on the front and back of my '12 DCSB. They were going to charge me $826 and that included an alignment. I wanted to set the front at 1.75" with stock springs to level out the front. Is it even wroth buying the Bilstein's for the back of my truck? If I didn't buy the back shocks would I still experience improved ride quality?

OR should I get the Billies up front set them at 0.85 and put the 885 springs on it?

What's better here people, let me know!

I certainly hope that the 826 includes the shocks themselves otherwise you are getting _royally_ screwed. If it includes the shocks then you're only getting screwed. Standard shop rates for the front and rear shocks should be around 4 hours. Shocks themseleves are a bit over $300, so they want $500 to install,,,, U B getin raped....

Yeah, that is awfully high. Get another quote elsewhere. Also, save yourself some money and do the rears yourself. Very simple stuff.

Yeah, that is WAY too high. The rears are simple and I installed my fronts in around 2 hours using the no compressor method. I can understand though if you are not comfortable doing the fronts, they can be dangerous if you are not careful.

Aight well screw the top post.

What do guys think of me putting the 5100s up front with Eibach springs?
If I did that would you suggest leaving the back alone?
    Good idea bad idea?

 Wow.... Downsouth has the best price of the 5100's IIRC. Just get them from there and install them yourself. If you're not comfortable installing the fronts yourself, then buy them online and take them to a shop to install the fronts only. The rears are a direct swap.

Better than using the stock coils, but you'll still see an improvement in the rear by installing the 5100's

So if I want to do this damn thing right I should do Billies all the way around but on the front put the Eibach springs and have them set to 0?

Opinions will vary, but I used the stock springs and rear shocks, and I love it, no issues at all, and a very nice look and feel.

"doing it right" really depends on what you intend to use the truck for. You can use the stock rear shocks and they'll do just fine. If you want to upgrade the rear, then the 5100's are one step up.

90% of my driving will be on the street the rest in the woods. I am looking at leveling it out but I want to do it right meaning no spacers.

My main reason for doing all 4 was to ensure that a matched set was put on at the same time. Shock valving is consistent and the shock lives should match up. As for the 5100s + stock springs or Eibachs,,, can't give you any input as I am running 5100s at .85 with stock springs. Do keep in mind that in order to get the 1.75 lift you are pre-loading the springs, as such the ride will get firmer, but hopefully a bit better control.

Did you almost level the front with the setting at .85? I have been thinking of doing that instead of 1.75 but its such small difference.

Rear Leaf spring TSB, Bilstein 5100's all around w/ front set at 1.75", 265/75R/16 Mickey Thompson Baja STZ's, Trailer hitch w/custom wiring, AFE drop in dry filter, Rear Diff breather mod, Debadged truck, customized stock TRD wheel center caps, added factory fog lights, bed mat, door sills, tinted windows
for about $300 or so shipped, Downsouth will ship to you a set of 5100's (4ea). Go to a good shop that does a lot of shocks, brakes, alignments, etc. and you should be out the door for $500 or so, with the alignment and shock trade out. The setting of 1.75 with stock springs will be perfect for your needs.

Otherwise bring your own lube if they do not supply as mentioned above. :D

I'm running 5100's on Eibachs up front with a 2"AAL and stock shocks in the back. The ride quality is GREATLY improved. Check my build page for pics.

Depends, if you have the stock leafs, the .85 gets you close to level, but slightly nose down. With the TSB springs, .85 gets you back to stock rake. I have the TSB springs and added the 5100 at .85 to get back to the stock rake.

That being said, it looks like jermoids has a 2012 Sport. If it is the same as my 2013 Sport, then it came with the 4-leaf pack already installed in the rear. I set my Billies at 1.75", and it is pretty much level.

Good point, I keep forgetting about the fact that they finally fixed a design flaw after 7 model years :D
