I got a question for the 12V guys here:
I have a 2013 std cab basic model
I already have a Sirius Starmate 5 dock and play unit that was installed in my previous work truck(2011) Ford Ranger.
I had it running through the FM Direct Adapter
These new Toyotas dont have the old style antenna connector
What are my options: is there a adapter to convert the new antenna connter?
Can I use a direct mini plug to the radio mount and the stock radio(dash USB/mini plug input)?
    thanks
    bob

I had that same unit for a little while, just connect from the aux to the sirius unit and it plays through the speakers like an iPod. Only thing you don't have is steering wheel controls.

I installed the 00016-00076 kit per the instructions, but my unit isn't recognizing there's a satellite tuner hooked up.

2014 base model, non Entune radio.

    Thoughts?

Try turning the tuner knob when you first turn the radio on

No bueno. Every thing powers up and the AM/FM/Bluetooth all work just ducky. No satellite input is shown on the Audio screen.

So you were not getting the satellite icon on the touchscreen?

There is an adapter cable out that will allow you to connect the oem shark fin antenna for use with siriusxm. There are 2 different ones so be sure to Google the part numbers for pictures and figure out which one you need. SFA12F and SFA12M are the part numbers to the different siriusxm antenna adapters. Hope this helps.

Bringing this thread to life again..... I have a 13 Taco with touchscreen unit, no SAT/NAV. I have the opportunity to get a '14 unit with SAT for a good price. Anyone know if this is a plug & play? One thing I'm not sure about is the antenae, I do not have the shark fin but have the regular standing hood one. Does that matter?

I'm digging way back into my feeble memory here (since I added the Sat module back in 2013)... so forgive me if I'm short on details...

Mine was added by buying the sat receiver module from Toyota (the required mounting kit is for a Scion - I had to find a knowledgeable parts counter guy who knew this and was able to find the right part number (I may have an entry earlier in this thread with more details).

The Satellite Receiver MOUNTING KIT came with the antenna, which was NOT the fin type - it is a magnetic mount black antenna, measuring about 1.5" square, and maybe .75" tall, with rounded edges, and a single wire coming out of it. After some experimentation for best reception/least ugly, I mounted mine on the leading edge of the cab's roof, flush against the windshield weatherstippinh, with the wire forward. The wire runs under weatherstripping to the to the driver's side, and exits the lower corner of the windshield, into the engine comparttment. From there it passes through an existing firewall grommet/seal, under the carpet, to the module, which I located under the driver's seat. That was the hard part. The magnet holding the antenna to the roof is very strong, and in that location it is fairly unobtrusive. It has never moved out of position unless I moved it purposely (to wash/wax). It should work equally well at the rear of the cab roof, if you want to run the cable through the 3rd brake light housing, but it would not look as “clean” in my opinion.

The module is indeed “plug & play” with the stock (non JBL) head unit, which has a multi-pin connector jack specifically for that purpose (it also provides power to the module, I believe). The head unit will automatically recognize the Sat RX module, and it will show up on the touch screen menu along with the other sources.

    Hope this helps.

thanks for the quick reply. I'm probly not asking correctly, sorry. Did more research as this is totally new to me and spur of the moment. My antenna wont work and will need to mount and route a new sat one to the radio (head?) unit I now know. What I cant find is if the sat module is built in to the radio unit or in the truck seperate from it. If its in the 2014 unit that is what I'd call plug, play as only needing to hook up the antenna wire, hopefully that will fit?

I can't comment on the JBL/Entune unit, but the "base" head unit uses a separate Satellite RX unit that plugs (via a cable) into the back of the head unit. Should be the same on the 2014 as on the 2013, but I can't swear to that.

The guy sent me some pics looks like you said is 2 units all I should need is a SAT antenna and of course a subscription. One more question if I may. I,m guessing there will be 2 antannae, the original for the standard am/fm and the additional SAT one?

Correct, but the stock whip antenna (on the passenger side, at the rear of the front fender) is already there for AM/FM. The sat radio kit has everything you need to add Sirius/XM to the stock head unit. An example of the installation instructions and parts list for each of the kit's components is shown here:

    http://toyotaparts.sparkstoyota.com/install/00016-00076inst.pdf

This kit and instructions are for a Prius, but it's very similar to what the Taco uses. Talk to the parts counter guy and he'll hook you up.

As you can see, you can order each part individually, but it would probably cost more that way than if you buy the whole kit.
