After reading one of the posts here, I decided to order a Tuffy Security Box to replace one of the plastic storage compartments in the bed of my 12 Dbl Cab SB. It arrived today and looks well made and well finished. I am anxious to install it in my rig. However, before I tear into my Taco's bed I thought I better ask some questions.

Has anybody here removed/replaced one of the storage boxes at the rear of the bed of the 2nd gens? There are atleast 6, maybe 8 torq head screws and nuts holding the compartment to the sidewall of the bed. Several of the nuts are virtually inaccessible from the bottom. Do you have to remove the bed rails to get to those nuts? Or are the nuts somehow secured to the composit bed and don't need to be held to loosen to tighten?

    Your thoughts please.

    Thanks.

I have a Tuffy box in my bed. I just backed out the Torx head bolts and pulled the OEM plastic box out. The threads are in the bed - I don't remember holding any wrench on the back side. My Tuffy box was a pretty tight fit, and the bottom couple Torx bolts were a pain in the ass to get at the bolt heads. It is a pretty cool thing that I'm glad I bought for my truck.

    Welcome to TW from Seattle.
