None currently, but I would like a better sounding exhaust and perhaps a cold air pack and some color coded step bars
Got a 2006, 6spd , 60K, the shifter is quite loose and sloppy, no trouble getting into gears etc., but it feels real loose. Is it the bushings or linkage. Has anyone had this problem?
Wonder if a trans shop could fix this or just go to a dealer? MJEFF

There is a nylon ball on the end of the shifter that could be worn, but most likely what you are feeling is normal. Mine has 82K and the ball is fine. These transmissions have a ton of throw and are very vague, so most would call them "sloppy". Many people, including me, have swapped out the factory shifter for a short throw shifter. That helps some. If you are new to the whole 6 spd experience you should search the subject and get up to speed. It's been discussed a lot.

I installed a short throw shifter and it made a big difference. Gives it a tighter, less sloppy, more "crisp" feel.

Thanks for the suggestions, I am guessing that its a TRD setup? I would have to say my shifter has gotten a bit looser recently....definately will look into it. Thanks again for the comments. MJEFF

The problem you are having is the non serviceable rubber bushings inside of the shifter are worn out. In general, they can not be replaced and the shifter has to be replaced.

If your warranty will cover it, I would go for it.

I can rebuild your shifter and cut it down in length, if you want to go another direction.

Well, if it is just the nylon bushing at the tip, you got lucky.

I have seen many of these shifters fail, due to the internal shifter bushings.

It will be obvious when the shifter is removed.

How hard is it to get to the nylon bushing or isolator and how can hard to switch to short shifter on a 06 x-runner

The tip bushing requires removal of the shifter and is any easy task.

Doing a sort shifter swap is maybe an hour job.

Kewl, thanks. Do you just pop off the shifter boot or do you have to take the whole console out?

BTW: nice coupe, I have a '49 hotrod chevy truck w/350 crate motor and corvette 350 tranny

    Shifter swap is easy.

Took about 2 hours to swap shifter for TRD unit and change out gear oil for Redline.
Both made a huge difference in my X-Runner.

Tip: You do not need to notch the floor to get at the 4th bolt (in TRD instructions). If you shove the trans over to one side ever so slightly you can squeak that bolt in without issue. Also, allow for break in time. I was disappointed in mine at first, as it breaks in it gets much, much smoother.

You can do it with just pulling the boot off, but I find it easier to pull the console off.

Console goes off in about 5 minutes.

    Sounds like a nice ride.

I pulled the console for mine. I don't think it is necessary but seemed to make the job easier. Plus, I took the opportunity to clean the console and hard to get to parts of the carpet while it was out.

Okay, I think I will pull boot to inspect what exactly may be wrong: bushing, guide, etc so I can get right part and then maybe go with URD quick shift kit too. It has been grinding in 3rd for a while and have been meaning to take to dealer I got it from because they offered a life time engine/tranny warranty so I may do that first and see what they say.
Richie, what part of SD are you in? I lived in Santee, La Mesa and Lakeside plus stationed at 32nd St. and the Miramar Reserve Station
