Easily modifiable for torque and power, lots of torque, more fuel efficient over gasoline engines. The 1GR FE is a great engine though. Super for what most of America does with their trucks -- except maybe economy. Modern diesel engines aren't anything like the diesel engines of yesteryear, by the way.

New diesels are very clean and efficient but easily modifiable eh that's becoming harder and harder to do with all the new emisions crap and such on them. And the price of satan's fuel kinda off sets the whole better mpg. I still want a v8

OP your poll is a little flawed. Assuming by cargo you mean payload, the option "Yes, I want a diesel Hilux, even with it's lower hp, torque, cargo, & towing" is incorrect. A single cab Hilux has a payload capacity of a little over 3000 lbs. I'm not aware of a Taco with that kind of payload.

pointless. the truck isn't big enough to warrant any more torque, the rest of the truck would have to be beefed up as well, to be able to tow or haul more anyways, such as suspension, frame, ring gears, axles, oh wait now it's a full size! I'm extremely happy with the 4.0L gas motor.

I believe that's what separates most companies from selling trucks and selling TRUCKS. Toyota is one of the only ones that doesn't have a diesel engine available. If the Tundra would've been available in a diesel I would be driving Tundra right now!

    Toyota should drop the Tundra.

An electric or hybrid Tacoma...now, THAT would sell.

Hey, I'm no tree hugger...but I would love an all electric Tacoma.

Plug it in at night like a DeWalt power tool...

ready to go in the morning. :D
