TRD SuperCharger Confirmed!!!!!!

For those awaiting a TRD Blower.

Apparently someone from the Colorado Chapter of TTORA won one at a raffle.

Jeff at CT spoke with a rep

More on it.

Welp, if you had a 3RZ your problems would be solved!

However unfortunate, seeing how long it took TRD to come out with one for the 4.0 you might be driving a flying car before that happens.

Yeah, my problem isn't power. It is lack of tinkering. There just isn't as much tinkering that you can do with a 2.7L as there is with the 4.0L.

I am over it. I am going to get an older Tacoma to play with in the next year or two.

lol what's wrong with me? haha nothing really...more power is always good, I don't disagree with that. I was just suprised that TRD came out with an SC for the 4.0L V6 It's got great power already. I think it could use a little more myself. I knew there were sc kits out for the old camry but never thought they'd come out with one for the truck.

don't get me wrong, i'm glad tey came out with it. Just pushes me to buy the truck more now...hehe

I don't know much about blowers. Would that adversely affect engine life? What about gas mileage?

it won't really affect the engine life if you take care of it. With a supercharged engine, you'll be doing oil changes more frequently than the recommended schedule. Gas mileage can remain the same, improve or get worse depending on how you drive the car. With the SC, it's always on so I'm thinking your mileage will suffer a little. If you had a turbo setup, it would be different....your mileage could improve, get worse, or stay the same depending on how you drive it. Turbos aren't always "on" so to speak. they kick in at certain RPM ranges depending on how the vehicle is tuned.

supercharged badging

What do you guys think about this supercharged badge?

It measures 6" by 1/2". I found it at sfxperformance.com. Has anyone come across anything more appealing?

New Toyota 1GR-FE Supercharger Details
Toyota Provides Details of 1GR Supercharger
Posted on August 9, 2007 07:12 PM

After months of speculation, rumors, and doubt, a conversation with a Toyota representative today confirmed details of the forthcoming TRD 1GR-FE supercharger.

Some of the details below have been rumored for quite some time, but there are some interesting bits of new information as well.

An official press release should be coming soon, but here's what we now know to be fact:

The production unit is an intercooled roots-type Eaton M90
Test mule trucks have seen roughly a 30% HP and torque increase. This should equate to around 70 additional (presumably crank) horsepower, resulting in just over 300HP on an otherwise stock truck.
There will be TWO application kits: One for Tacoma trucks and one for FJ Cruiser SUVs. There will not be separate units based on transmission.
The units will provide around 6.5PSI of boost
Installation of the unit will be simple (probably around 5 hours for a dealership), although probably a bit more involved than previous (5VZ-FE) supercharger installs due to the low temperature radiator, intercooler, and a (presumably ECU) flash. The unit utilizes a single belt with tensioner.
As expected, the unit will require high octane fuel, either 91 or 93 octane. Our source indicated that he has had no pinging or detonation in his unit.
The unit will be 50-state legal
MSRP on the kit will be in the "low to mid $4,000s".
Units will be hitting the market in early to mid September - right on schedule according to our source
Overall, the representative indicated that his supercharged truck (the red Tacoma appearing at the recent TTORA event and in our previous coverage) is very fun to drive and is "very reminiscent" of the previous 3.4L supercharged trucks.

For you 4Runner fans, it is also worth noting that they do not have any plans to release a 4Runner specific kit, and it is unknown whether either of the two versions will work properly on the 4.0L in the 4Runner.

So there you have it folks: straight from the horse's mouth and the superchargers should begin shipping in September.

Did anyone happen to see my money tree laying around?? I know I put it somewhere...oh thats right! my bills..and my wife...damn money trees!! Dohh!

Well..now that I officially soiled my drawers..I will be tasked with saving up some dollars to get that supercharger from TRD..I do have to ask..do any of you think its a better idea to wait and get some more miles on the truck before I do it..its brand new and I only got about 2k on it..1400 to be exact now that I think about it..this obviously wont be happening soon..but it will happen..I am gonna get some lift done..and maybe some mild engine performance upgrades..like a K&N drop in..and whatever else I can do thats cost effective and works..

I agree that is a lot for a Toyota SC.

BMW SC's start at that amount. Though a 750HP turbo kit is 16K Cough! So I guess cost is relative.

So here is a tricky question. Will you get more MPG with the SC? You have more power which means less energy needed to move the truck. And yes I know it depends on driving style. SO for sake of arguing normal driving as if you were trying to go for MPG.
