I picked up a pair of used 5100's for a great price, front and rear. I started to install them but stopped because I know I want to add more to the suspension system and dont want to have to redo all the work in another week or so. Im wanting to do the typical 2.5"-3.0" lift and have my sights set on the Toytec 3" with OME coils/AAL's. My question is, whats my best bang for the buck? Drop the 5100's to 0" and install the OME coils or is that just a waste of money?

According to Toytec, you get the full 3" lift up front with the top plate spacer, so Im thinking about just using stock coils + 5100's @ 2.5" + top plate spacers? Or screw it and just get the AAL's for the rear and call it a day with 2.5" up front... If I hadnt got such a good deal on the Bilsteins I probably would have just gone with the Toytec lift on stock shocks.

Its my daily driver, minor offroading and trail riding with the occasional mild offroading to get to fishing spots. Dont care about tire size as long as its bigger than stock. My goal is a good, useable suspension system that doesnt break the bank. I want to do it right from the start.

If you're going to be in the 2.5 - 3" of lift, you should really get new UCA's. As far as coils, you can preload your stock coils to the 2.5 setting but, since you have a TRD Off Road, it'll be stiff as hell. The TRD Off Road is the only model that uses progressive coils so they gain strength in a hurry when you start preloading them. The OME 885 coils are a good option for what you want to accomplish. You can then either just add the 1/4" spacer on the driver's side, or 1/2" on the DS and 1/4" on the PS to gain a little extra lift and put you closer to 3" of lift. For the rear, I'd just avoid blocks. The single AAL's are alright, I went with the Icon 3-leaf progressive AAL and am very happy with the results.

OK good to know. I'm thinking the .5" isn't worth the extra money and effort.

I wonder how the ride is on a 5100 at 2.5" with stock spring is versus 5100's at stock height with OME 885's.

2.5" is a bit of a rougher ride. UCA's will be needed at 2.5" as your caster will be out. That's how mine are and I'm going to go down to 1.75" to avoid paying for UCA's.
