    300,000 Miles Today

My 2006 Tacoma Doublecab TRD Off Road hit 300k miles this evening just west of the Continental Divide near Thoreau, NM en-route to Flagstaff. The truck is running great, and does not look or feel like it has that many miles on it. It seems to finally be broken in.

I think this is currently one of the 2nd Gen V6 Tacomas with the most miles on Tacoma World. I posted here last year when I hit 250k miles:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/175926-250-000-miles-today.html

I thought I would share some information for those that might be interested.

The truck was purchased new on July 27, 2006. I do a lot of exploring across the southwest. LOTS of blasting down rough gravel desert roads and forest roads. LOTS of off-roading, driving up washes, etc. LOTS of snow. Thousands and thousands of miles of 4x4 on snow covered highways. I live at 6500 ft elevation. LOTS of cold starts. LOTS of desert heat. A rough life for a truck. I drive about 10 miles each way to work and do not use the truck for work, so most mileage has been recreational.

The Tacoma is awesome. The best vehicle I have ever owned. I just bought a new 2012 4Runner TE because of the positive experience with this Tacoma and its impressive reliability. I will continue to heavily use the Tacoma.

29,013 Replace RH and LH rear axle seals
    10 Purchased 7/27/06

    Notes:

    Original clutch !
    Original throw-out bearing
    Original starter
    Original alternator
    Original engine
    Original transmission
    Original CV shafts
    Original stock exhaust
    Original catalytic convertors
    Original oxygen sonsors
    Original fuel pump and filter

on 6th set of tires (3 sets of Michelin LTX MS, 2 sets of LTX MS2, and now LTX AT2)
    on 4th winshield
    on 2nd battery
    on 3rd compass/temp readout
on 4th set of OEM all weather floor mats (the good thick ones - drivers heel wear)
    on 3rd OEM shift knob
    44 oil changes

    300k miles at 18 mpg = 16666 gallons of gas = $58333 at $3.50/gal

Gas was on average much cheaper than $3.50 over the last 6 years, but still it is a LOT of money.

    Motor Oil and Filters

I use Mobil 1 Extended Protection 5W30 motor oil. I have always used Mobil 1 EP in this truck. I changed the oil to Mobil 1 the day I bought it new. So other than the first 60 miles, it has all been Mobil 1 EP 5W30.

You can see I use the oversize Mobil 1 M1-209 filter when I run over 5-6k miles between drains. Longest interval between oil changes was 14,542 miles.

Here is part of my mainanance history (from 200k to 300k miles) to give you an idea of what oil changes I do and how often:

    293,751 Oil Change Mobil 1 EP 5W30, Mobil 1 M1-209 filter

UPDATE 10/26/12 Used Oil Analysis Report

I received the oil analysis that I did at 300,841 miles which was 7090 miles on the oil. Less than my typical 10k change interval because I was leaving on a long trip and wanted it changed before I left and also I wanted it done near 300k miles.

    Looks good!
