I was looking into a toolbox for my 08. I have looked at a duralast and a kobalt. I am open to other suggestions as well. I do not want to drill into the top rail at all. What is your opinions? In doing my research I found some pics and It appeared the duralast and kobalt may actually be better built brand.. Is that correct?

kobalt is better built. If you can afford it I'd spring for something better. Mine is pretty flimsy and not at all secure. All you need is the little clamp things they sell, no need to drill into rail. OR j-hooks.

OR you can cut the loops off the stock rail cleats and run bolts through them into your box. I did that and used an extra j hook.

I have a UWS and I've been happy with it. I stand on the lid of mine to wash my roof all the time and the top has never bowed in at all and I weight 200lbs. I used J hooks to attach mine to the U track. Also I found mine on CL for less for $150.00 so check CL for deals.

on cheaper, especially single lid boxes the opening/ closing can be an issue after a short time. especially after sitting/ standing on it or otherwise warping it.

IF you can swing it and find a model you like, weatherguard is the best out there. SOLID boxes, secure too.

Many of these boxes can be pried open easily, or lifted from one side and opened with a yard stick.

Mine included so I added some hasps and pad locks because I can't afford a weatherguard. Guess it depends on what you want to keep in it and what it's worth to you.

I've got the UWS lo-pro in gloss black. Best toolbox I've owned. Had it 2 years now, everything still works like new. I put a coat of wax on it when I wax the truck, still even looks like new. I got mine through Amazon.
