A few months ago I tore 2 discs in my spine (L5 and S1) and driving the truck with a 3'' Revtek lift has been prolonging and inflaming my spine due to the severity of the ride. Is there anything I can do to Dramatically increase ride quality and smoothness while keeping it 3'' above stock? I don't want to have to sell it

If you want stock ride, put some spindles on.

This. And a custom leaf pack in the back - tuned for soft ride rather than heavy load carrying.

After five years, you'll probably want to replace the stock shocks with replacements, even with a spindle lift, simply because they're gonna be close to worn out.

Ditch the spacers and get lift spindles and maybe some AP leaf packs (standards). Your ride in the front will return to stock and the back will be improved. Just know that you will need extended brake lines and longer shocks to accomodate the AP leaf packs. I hear the RCD/Bilstien 5100s are a good match with the packs and are really affordable.

    Best of luck

Whats that old saying you pay for what you get. I went with Billy's at 2.5" and now I wish I got 885's due to ride.

I would recommend a ProComp DB lift. About $1200, it will bolt up without cutting and since you use all stock shocks it will be the closest to a stock ride that you can get. (With the stock struts it will be a 4"lift)

Doing an LT or Spindles lift will increase the cost significantly. And may or may not improve the ride. Depending on how you set it up.

So either return it back to stock, and ditch the spacers. or get the Procomp.

These options will have the best ride that your truck can have. for a daily driver. (It will never be as good as a car)

High speed rough terrain driving?? The LT set up hands down! Best ride & suspension travel!

Or just stop being a little girl, put your big boy pants on, and man up!

    haha, jk man...

I've got a herniated disc as well, pinching my sciatic nerve down the right leg. Only reason I'm even at home (the USA) right now. My suspension isn't too rough though, ICON St. 4, pricey, and I didn't just buy them for my back issues. But glad they're on there now! haha...

Hope you get well soon man! How'd you hurt it? And can you do physical therapy? I am in it now, and it's amazing!

Nope, Spindles and AP leaf pack can be had for under $1000. Alot better option then a DB.

Alright I will look more into spindles and how much this would all cost with the inclusion of brake lines and shocks as well, thank you

Also, different people mean different things when they talk about ride quality.

If you're getting rough ride over normal streets and highways (which is what we all were assuming) then yes spindles are the thing.

If you're getting rough ride over BIG bumps and VERY rough roads, then enhancing the suspension with stiffer, longer springs and off road shocks (such as Old Man Emu, or many various others) is the way to an improved ride.

Yes you see I just don't want to spend around 1000$ on fitting an entire new suspension and then it turns out that it doesn't help enough and I have to sell the truck anyway, so i'd have to find someone near me that has these lifts/spindles etc. and actually test their ride quality.
I'm on a rugby team and last february in a tournament I played about 4 games in one day and by the end of the day due to amateur form "scrumming" and tackling, my back gave out and i've been in pain since. Yes, i've seen 6 different doctors, I've been through 3 different physical therapy programs each being 6-8 weeks, tried 2 chiropractors, and even got an epidural, but none has helped so far and i'm currently continuing rehab. It turns out that the one of the main reasons that my injury has been so prolonged is that my truck is too rough. I've driven it everyday since the injury and have been in pain everyday so it's likely the reason of my pain. Ironic how the thing I love the most (tacoma) is also what hurts me the most ehh?

dude, you need to sell the truck! you can always buy a new one, cant buy a new back. youre trying to put a band aid where you need stitches man... sell it, to carmax if its a time issue, sell off all your parts, and buy a squishy back healing car, on the cheap! be smart
