What happened to "hey I grab big stick and poke it into mud hole to see the depth" routine?

I agree with the statement of taking out your interior and cleaning it out. I dipped my truck in a puddle and my interior started to smell like bad green beans...

    oh good lord dude ...

you should have killed the engine ASAP, if water gets into your intake system, it then gets into a piston and the piston with try to compress the water... end result is catastrophic (eg: con rod through the block)

and this is the ONLY time I ever recommend WD40. WD (Water Displacement) , 40 (40th attempt). You can safely spray it on all electrical components.

and (like others have said) change every single fluid in your truck and re-grease everything

you could have killed the voltage regulator in the alternator. after i killed my alternator in a mud hole (and 2 batteries as well when trying to get home), i replaced the alternator when one came in. when it was replaced, the voltage regulator was hosed and would check out sometimes and bad others.

*side note* i did that in that same mudhole as well, but going lengthwise and not cutting across.

in '09...i didnt kill my alt in this pic. i cant find my pics from '10 where i did.

Actually just had the oil changed afterwards so we should be good there. Unfortunately just replaced front diff and transfer case the day before. Wouldn't I became ok since the breather is under the hood?

it's a risk,... if you are tight on money, you could drain it, let it settle in a clear container and see if any water separates from the oil. That would just cost your time and $1 for gasket

I can get fluids pretty cheap so I guess I can go ahead and change them again. Looks like my Sunday will be full of truck repair. The bitch was having zero recovery gear aside from two tow straps. And we only saw one other vehicle until he guy we called showed up.

i didnt get stuck, but i couldnt get enough traction to get up the other side. took like 3 tries at it. mud coming over the hood, fan was churning mud, engine sounded like is was bogging down too...lol. had an inch of mud in the bed. engine compartment is still caked in mud and the mud lines are still on the door seals. that was over 2 years ago.

Had to try the Dumbass Bowl at URE eh?

Nothing that goes in there comes out ok unless it's on 38s or larger. All I've ever seen it do is cause problems. I refuse to touch the thing.

Rest of the trails down there are fun though.
