i recently bought a '13 DCSB with a manual trans, still breaking it in but with everything i've read about changing the transmission oil to MT90 or amsoil, i was wondering if anyone knows who manufactures the factory oil? apparently it sucks, but it would be helpful to know where it comes from to avoid putting in something similar.

    Thanks.

Don't know who manufactures it, but if you just bought the truck, I'd just drive it and not worry about it. I put almost 65k on my stock manual & fluid and to be honest, did not notice much, if any, difference at all after changing to MT-90. It might be a "better" fluid but I think that's mostly in people's head.
Point being...stick w/ stock fluid and don't worry about it.

I know the six speed in my 12' was the tightest tranny and motor of any brand new vehicle I've ever owned lol. Not that it's a bad thing but it definitely does get better especially the shifting smoothness. I've got a little over 3k on it now and it is shifting smooth and perfect. I will change it out to Redline but not until around 20k or so. I know the redline shockproof tranny fluid in my Honda 450r made a huge difference in shifting smoothness over the stock Honda oil it came with.

How'd you figure the factory lube sucks?

If you are buying a boutique brand oil you don't need to worry that that was what Toyota put in in the first place.

Workman does not have the 6 speed tranny in his tacoma, but if he did, he would run Redline.

Workman has heard good things about this gear oil.

Redline MT-90 works best in the 6-speed in my experience.
