60k with OEM breaks. When you replace them, get the same exact breaks. No need to get any other type of breaks for our trucks IMO.

You do have a point. Aftermarket is cheaper but I wanted to go oem just cause it came like that factory. I dont like messing with parts and have different brands in my truck. I like to keep it simple.

I have no problems with the front brakes but the factory rear brake shoes are awful. They squeal whenever I reverse in the morning. I could not put up with it anymore so I had to change them to Wagner's even though they had plenty of life left.

I say go with aftermarket slotted rotors. They improve braking performance with a more aggressive initial "bite".

BTW, for city driving, put the shifter in "4" instead of "D" to get a bit of engine braking. You will find you are on the brake pedal less often.

Stick with blanks and factory or reputable aftermarket pad. You can get lifetime warranty pad from autozone but they may not brake that well and eat rotors.

I just had this issue two weeks ago. brakes were squealing and had vibes in the pedal when stopping. i took out the pads and checked the rotors, pads were getting glazed and the rotors were looking low and also checked out as warped from the dealer. had a brake shop check them too with same results. said they could resurface them, but that would be the last of em. ended up saying F it and got new Duralast rotors and pads from autozone and did the change.

still strange how they needed to be replaced so soon. i am the second owner though so who knows.

If one side is allmost gone and the other side still good you have a bad brake hose or sticking calaper. Booth sides should be even

dont mean to thread jack, but figured it would be better to just post the question in this thread as opposed to starting a new one. Im looking to swap out the stock pads soon and want an upgraded pad, anyone have any recomendations? I know the ebc green stuff pads are sup to be good but they seem kind of pricey to me. and the hawk pads seem the right price range but i dont know which ones to get? the PC ceramic, LTS semi-metallic, or the HPS? any thoughts and opinions from those that have used them??

i have factory brakes but they are really squeaky, especially in the mornings. ive got new front ones, and the rears probably have 25-30% left on them. The rears are originals and the front were installed by Toyota. ive inspected them and cleaned them and the rotors with brake cleaner, but still get the same squeak. is there a better aftermarket brake that is better?

thanks, they do a better job of grabbing than the oem? what about noise/dust? only reason why i ask that is because i know ceramics are always shouting they are better with both of those things. but if a semi-met. is good with that stuff than why not get the extra grab of not having ceramic..... again thanks for your input.

They had much better stopping than OEM, especially when towing. Noise and dust seem similar to OEM.

Haven't used ceramic, so I cannot comment directly. But my understanding is reduced noise/dust at the cost of stopping performance

that is kind of what i assumed as well about the ceramic, so it looks like i will most likely go with the LTS, how have the life/wear of the pads been for ya?

x2.. curious about those TRD pads as well as to why EBC yellows have not been mentioned. You figure kevlar brake pads would be the best route to go wouldn't they?

I feel that the stock pads don't have a whole lot of bite when it comes to OH SHIT stopping situations.

I just swapped in SP Performance slotted rotors and Hawk LTS'. I pull a camper and a landscape trailer, and was looking for a mild upgrade to stock.

    I went through Raceshopper.com.

Talked with them before making my choice. Very reasonable prices and quick delivery!

Aftermarket FTW. I got 70k miles on my stock brakes and then switched to Duralast. Lifetime warranty on pads, I'll never buy pads as long as I own the truck.

I'm swapping mine soon. I'm at 75K but I swapped pads at 50K and now my rotors are pretty much shot so replacing rotors, pads, and also going with SS lines. Probably do some blanks like Duralast, Hawk LTS pads, and the group buy SS lines.
