Vibe issue with suspension pic

Hello Forum,

I have the Billies .85 in the front & the 3 Leaf AAL in the rear with the OEM overload leaf on:



I have take-off vibes and if I try to maintain my speed at 15-20 MPH I can feel a slight shudder that goes away if I take my foot off of the gas. It almost feels tires (BFG A/T's 265/75r16) but I didn't have it before. I do not have any other vibe/shudder issues after that & up to 110 MPH that I have tested it at. Also, the 15-20 mph shudder is only when taking off slowly, as in traffic or a school zone. If you take off normal to fast you do not even feel the shudder.

I took off the OEM leaf which lowered the rear about 3/4" & I feel the symptoms a lot less. The problem is that I like the raked look of the truck with the overload leaf on. Would a CB drop help? If it doesn't & I put on the leaf again & decide to live with those symptoms are there any safety issues? My mechanic drove it & said he can only feel the take-off vibe. My wife did not notice anything.

If I load my truck up with 5 people you barely feel it since the weight apparently brings the angle back to stock. Good to know when I tow my dad-in-laws boat, I guess.

I am hoping that a cb drop will help since that is easy

I have also read that some of these trucks do it even from the factory. If the cb drop or axle shim or both reduce (but not eliminate) the vibe is it even an issue to concern myself with? I understand that it may reduce the life of the u-joints but I can live with that. My question is, are there any safety issues?

UPDATE, my bro-in-law drove it and said that I am making a big deal out of nothing. I still, however, want to at least try the ToyTec CB drop and see what happens.

If you floor the pedal while driving 5-10 MPH you feel it a little more. If you floor the pedal at 20 MPH it still kicks down into 1st but NO VIBES AT ALL & never any vibes/shudder after that regardless of take-off speed.

Before blindly buying the CB drop or an arbitrary shim angle, read this, follow the procedure then purchase the correct shim and or CB drop: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd...ml#post5913346

Just throwing a 3 degree shim doesn't help if the axle is a different angle than the 3 degree correction.

First is buy a digital inclinometer (reads angles) then measure all the angles, adjust the axle first to be parallel to transfer case, then work on the CB angle/height.

^^^ That is a god thread I read that the other day. I ended up running beefedtaco's CB drop with the 3* shim to take care of my vibe but it seems to vary from truck to truck so that angle meter is very helpful in finding the right angle. I had the same vibe at about 25mph. Another thing is too make sure you have you u bolts torqued properly that sometime causes the start off shudder.

Read that post, it helped me out a lot. FWIW, I cured a lot of my vibrations by flipping the carrier bearing (just unbolt, rotate it 180 degrees around the shaft and reinstall bolts). I have the same lift as you, TSB leaf pack and the 3-leaf progressive with the OL left in place.

That inclinometer sounds like a good idea but I am actually on my way to Home Depot and I was hoping to buy some bolts and washers just to try it tomorrow morning. Does anyone mnow the bolt size I need? BTW, I will but the inclinometer because I am curious to see the angles
