I am considering buying a set of wheels from a 2012 Off road without the TPMS valves, if I rubber valve stems on them and leave the factory spare under the truck, will the warning light on the dash come on?
    Thanks in advance.

If you only have one sensor it will set off the warning. It goes off if any of your tires go below the designated psi

Have them transfer the TPMS to the new wheels or put them in a pressurized pipe.

can the factory sensors be re-used in after market wheels, given the wheel is suitable mounting area for it?...in other words, it wont break if removed

^Usually OK. The tire shop needs to rebuild the sensors with a "service kit" - new O-rings, new stem and new hardware.

If they are from one of the OEM alloy wheels, yes. The sensors in the steel wheels are angled differently. In order to "rebuild" them, they have to be removed from the wheel. I.e. they won't break if removed.

I reused mine in my aftermarket wheels. Works just fine.

Have the tire shop put the tpms sensors from your old wheels onto your new wheels and reprogram them. Done and done.

99% of all reputable tire shops will have the sensor kits in stock to service your tpms system. No need to go out looking for them. If they don't have them, they'll get them fast because they want your business.

If you are gonna order, go to Rock Auto and search for P/N TPM1110K. The kit costs only $2. You need qty 4.
