does anyone make sliders/rockers that you dont lose 2-2.5 inches of ground clearance? something like these would look and work really well

    http://4xguard.com/jeep-liberty-kj/4x-guard-armor/side-guards-grand-cherokee-black.html

they bolt to the body and pinch weld... i guess on a truck with frame it would be tough to do a boatside type slider without attaching it to the body and frame (wouldnt be good to do that).

just wondering if anyone has made high clearance rock rails or boat sides?

Typically the frame still hangs lower than the sliders so I wouldn't really call it "lost" clearance. Maybe it you were trying to squeeze around/over the side of a rock I guess.

To answer your question, these are the closest I have seen but I still think they hang just as low. They are custom made by a member on here for his rig.

X2, you don't lose ground clearance with conventional sliders. And remember a rock is never a perfectly flat surface. You'll want sliders that stick out some distance from the sides. That's why people pay extra for the kickout hoops on sliders.

Jeep Liberty is a unibody I think, so the only practical way is to reinforce the doorsill / pinchweld (where the jacking points would normally be). You can't install anything that sticks out far without a lot of extra underbody reinforcement.

Coming up here after I get a few more things finished up, I am going to be building a set of sliders for a 1st gen Tacoma with the goal of having around an inch drop on the sides. going to be trying for a for a super low profile and yet keep them almost as strong as the sliders on my truck.

I'd expect they did their homework well enough to have it figured out. Not sure exactly what's tied into what but I'm sure it works out fine.

This 2nd gen had them, can't find better pics. There's a thread on here somewhere featuring this rig.

    ^Damn, bobbed bed and SUA.

So when the truck is high-centered, you can't open the doors?

I'd expect yes but then again they gained what did he say 6 or 9 inches of clearance?
