Does anyone know if a frontier bed extender such as the one shown below will work in a 2nd Gen Tacoma? I can get one for a crazy low price and want to try it out.

If it's so cheap, what's the worst that can happen? You resell it on Kijiji for the same price you paid for it.

I previously had a frontier with the factory bed extender. Width wise I believe it is adjustable, so I think it would fit. Does it come with mounting brackets?? I'm not sure if that extender would fit in Toyotas extender mounting brackets. Brackets come with extender anyway, they're not preinstalled on truck bed.

oh yeah i definitely agree - just want to make sure it's worth the effort. I'm pumped because this is about 90% off...except it doesnt have mounting hardware, but I think that can be taken care of.

Right - the only question is, do I buy tacoma or frontier hardware?

    Or DIY?

Yea thats just the xtender made by (amp research) If i recall correctly the 05+ have unique hardware because all the other trucks just drill stuff into the bedliner. Also i think they have a unique latch device for the tail gate.

you're right - I contacted Amp about what parts I need. 2 parts are needed: pivot brackets and tailgate latch device (as you stated) total about 40-50 bucks shipped, i think.

I'm 90% sure the extender for the Nissan is adjustable for width I know the one in my 08' Frontier was. However the brackets for the nissan mount to the bed track system not the inside of the bed like the Toyota.

I think it's width is adjustable as well, however, I didn't need to adjust the width - it was already perfect (I guess the width is the same for a frontier and a tacoma?). Just had to buy the mounts and install it - took 15 minutes.

I don't know what Kijiji or fify means BTW :)

Some people may be interested to know that I am using this extender with an Extang Trifecta tonneau without any interferences of any kind.

If you fold the tonneau back once, there's enough clearance for the bed extender to flop onto the tailgate.

They honestly look like they were designed to be used together. Very happy with it :)
