Air is fine if it's dry, and that is easier to achieve than most people think. I have a 12 foot copper cooling loop on my compressor before the air goes into the tank. I've operated my airlockers down to -15 degrees without a single failure. In extreme cold you can also run air lockers on bottled gas if your compressor is too wet. They require very little volume.

Edit: I might add that Elockers are not without failures either. I have seen several threads about Elockers that fail to engage or disengage. There is a thread on the front page right now about that.

Ill answer more questions later on a comp the main difference between this elocker and toyotas is this is electromagnetic vs the toyota is actuator. This, as far as i can tell will instqll just like an arb front locker as per bearing and deiveline. Oh and where im at it gets to -40C here so thats what -20F so anymosture in air lines consider urself effed

We have an 8" front diff not a 7.5" like the first gens so that won't work. Also I don't know of anyone running manual hubs on a 2nd gen yet either.

There likely never will be manual hubs for the Gen II because the cost and complexity would kill any attempt tp do it.

How do the first gens do it? Hubs from some other rig that fit the first gens? If so I'm guessing you are implying that you would have to custom build some hubs for the 2nd gens?

Some of the earlier 1st gens (lower trim models I believe) had factory manual hubs, so those parts can be used to convert ADD 1st gens.

I see. What about the late Pre-Tacoma's, do they have the same front end as the 1st gens?

I don't understand. Only an 05+ tacoma diff fits an 05+ tacoma. And the only front locker available is an ARB. Seems pretty simple to me. ARB or go home.

Suspension and steering are very different, but off the top of my head, I'm not sure if the diff and CV axles match or are different. Someone smarter can chip in here.

You are right, you don't understand. The "2nd gen tacoma front diff" is also used in FJCs and according to what Ghost848 is suggesting, later model Toyota hiluxes. I find it reasonable to think that if the hilux and the tacoma both use the same ARB locker, that both could also use the same Harrop e-locker sold in Aussieland for the hilux. The question in my mind is whether it would be worth the $$ (whatever the price ends up being) and possible hassle when ARB makes a decent product. I can't justify spending that kind of coin on either one, so I'm going home.:p

You've never heard of an Eaton Ultrashift transmission, have you?:eek::rolleyes: Overall they make some damn good stuff, and support it very well, but not all of it is good. I would suggest researching real world performance before buying one, just to be safe.

I have a second gen with manual locking hubs. Very easy conversion...

please leave this thread. You apparently can't even grasp what is being discussed and have added no valuable input.

OP, keep up with the research. more options are always a good thing. other than shipping costs, I don't think them being around the world makes any difference. maybe a phone call needs to be made to talk with a rep and see if some of these questions can be answered.
