    I have a 2012 Tacoma Access Cab 2.7 4x4 with 4.10 gears stock.

The truck will pretty much never go "off-roading" or rock crawling ever, just my DD and using it for projects around the house and the occasional light trail. I've been looking in the Zone Off Road 6" suspenion lift kit http://zoneoffroad.com/product?ki=487&gr=-1

Along with some 35 12.50 17 General Grabber at2 load range d (8 ply) tires.

I really don't want to have to re-gear at least not anytime soon. Will this setup be good for now?

Hmm... Well you can do it and see if you can live with it. Re-gearing will just make the throttle more responsive. I ran 33x10's on my V6 with 3.73 gears and on the freeway at 75, it wouldn't stay in overdrive unless I was on flat ground or going down hill. Now with the gears it takes a pretty steep hill to shift it out of overdrive.

4.10 will help compensate for the 4-cylinder but you are running a taller and heavier tire than I am, but basically it will come down to what you can live with. The lower gears will be a convenience and possibly net you slightly better fuel economy (although I doubt it will ever even out with the price of a regear).

If you do regear you won't need to change much, possibly just 4.30's or 4.56's if you want a little more power.

It's basically the cost to cost ratio, is it worth it to me to re-gear to 4.56's in order to have some more get-up and go. vs how much it costs to re-gear. I've read a lot on here that re-gearing jobs are roughly $1000 give or take, if you do the labor yourself. I used to have a 2008 F-150 with a 5.4 v8 and 3.73 stocks gears pushing 35" nitto trail grapplers. Only performance I had to it was cat-back, intake and a superchips tuner, it did great. But this is half the engine but the truck also wieghs half as much

Pretty much. You can always do the lift and tires now and regear later. May find out you can live without the regear and not do it in the end.

you have 2.7 (4cyl) with Auto and you want to run 35" tires ?

I think you will waste a lot of money and be unhappy on the end.

You are going to regret those decisions.

Define "good." Define "soon." Define "for now."

I ran for a year on my daily driver with stock 4.10 gears with

    * 33" tires instead of 35" tires

    * reg cab instead of access cab

    * 5 speed instead of auto.

I eventually decided it was worth it to regear to 4.88

I can tell you what I usually tell folks in these situations: "Try it out and see, then regear if you think it's worth it."

But I'm guessing you'll decide to regear sooner rather than later.

The one piece of additional advice I'd give if you put on 35" tires without regearing would be to go ahead and install a Hypertech Speedometer calibrator. Then the large tires will be less likely to confuse your automatic transmission shift points. (If you DO install it - make sure that you route the programming cable so that you can access it without removing your instrument cluster again.)

Well thank you everyone for your input. Perhaps for the time being I will simply do 5100's and go 265 75 16s until I am able to do everything at once (lift, wheels, tires, gears, and speedo) or maybe 6" on 33s and see how I like it

I can't seem to find a 33" tire that weighs less than 55 lbs a piece... any suggestions?

In my opinion I would go with the zone 4" lift, 5100'sset at .85 in front and just run 33's. I just installed this on my truck and it is a very nice lift. The 4" is actually 4.5 in front.

look on treaddepot.com. They list the specs on the tires to include weight. You can go with a 285/70r17 which is basically a 33 toyo at II only 48lbs w a 65k tread wear warranty and cooper at3 45lbs w a 55k treadwear warranty
