So I tried to get into the rear brake drum on the passenger side of my 08 to serve in a new e brake cable. Last time I was in here was last year to change a wheel stud and the drum came off no problem. Last night I could not get the drum off to save my life. I was positive I had the adjuster backed off the whole way. I know it is loose because I didn’t adjust it back up when I gave up and I have brake pedal like mofo this morning. Anyone else ever have this, usually a few turns and the drum fall out in your hands.

More to the story though. I had leant the truck to a buddy and the e brake failed and stuck on. He had to take the drum off and disconnect the cable. I didn’t think he could screw it up because it’s not that difficult and the guy has some manual ability. Any suggestions. I did not try to use the push bolt holes since they looked pretty rusty.

    Thanks

Mine was like that and I believe I used 2 14 mm bolts ( I believe that's the size not sure) they was stuck bad on my 07 I use to have but the bolts worked fine

m8 x 1.25, the head may have been 14 though.

Give it some good whacks with a rubber mallet first.

Did you mean disassembly in the title instead of get-off?

The dealership did the same thing to mine. Apparently they are pretty difficult. I hate drum brakes.

Tried a big ball-pee, prybars etc... I'll try the push bolts, I have never needed them before.

If I could get them off I would be so excited I would probabaly get off!
