TRD Fabric "Water-Repellent", is it really?

Hey all, I'm still waiting for my TRD Sport to arrive, and I know in the brochures and whatnot it describes the TRD Fabric as being water-repellent.

From other TRD owners, I wanted to know your experience of how true is this? And how beneficial have you found it to be?

I know stuff like Wet Okole is available, but $500 seems a bit steep.

    Thanks in advance!

I remember reading that somewhere myself. I'm sure there is some kind of coating they put on the seats that eventually wears off.

I've spilled a small amount of coffee and proteins shakes a few times on the seats. Absolutely no problem cleaning up. The moisture just beads up and sits on the surface.

I swear my TRD seats get water spots just from me putting a water bottle in the cupholder. They're awful at getting water spots, honestly. They are not at all water repellent, unless they've changed something (or you're talking about that new leather-type material).

Spray them with Scotch Guard or get some seat covers... i recommend doing both.

Water RESISTANT is different from water REPELLANT.

I know on my old FJ the seat fabric was "water resistant" and seemed pretty solid/durable overall. Seems like the Tacoma isn't quite up to that level. Good to know. Thanks!

I'm not sure, but I can tell you you'll want seat covers to help, even if the seats are water resistant.
