Checked the fluid level, its good. No apparent leaks, no whines that I can hear. I've gotten to the point that I have to use two hands now at a stop, or slow turn.

    Any ideas?

After you run it and warm it up take a little fluid out and see if it looks metallic. Maybe try a flush and see if that helps?

I could probably figure it out, but its dark now and I'm not going to worry about it until I get back in a few weeks. If I flush it, where would I be finding a drain plug, or should I just pull off the hose on the bottom of the resi?

I'd be suspect of the lower column u-joint seizing, rather than a pump or rack issue. I've heard of half a dozen cases of this so far, appearantly they aren't sealed very well, aren't greasable, or replaceable. The lower steering shaft has to be replaced, but some penetrating lube helps temporarily to determine if thats your issue, just soak it, and see if things improve. If it does, replace the shaft.

That was the problem with mine. i've actually had luck so far just pulling that rubber sheath or whatever it is up and spraying it with grease. i do that a couple times a year and it works well.

Behind drivers side front wheel. Just above the CV Axle.

Makes sense why it would rust and go bad it’s exposed to the elements...I’m try the grease fix when I get home. Hopefully that fixes it. I would just have the lower steering joint replaced if that’s the case and use grease and fluid film on it to keep it up. My trucks only a 2018.

truck also seems to wonder on the highway. Since I bought the truck a year ago I have noticed the drivers side boot is a little damp. Although my fluid level is good. It had gone down a little bit in a year but not a lot.

I picked up brand new upper and lower steering shafts from Toyota. They sure are nice. Steering should be super tight once installed.
