Some might recall that last fall my brand new Tacoma was rear ended. No real damage, but her insurance company ponied up around $800 for damages.

A bit of checking here, and a call to Billy got me a bumper on order. For clarity's sake here, I'll note that Billy did his work and shipped me the bumper quickly. I then let the bumper sit in the garage for MONTHS before taking an action to install it. ;) )

While I was busy in Raleigh and Dallas last week, the truck was at the shop having the bumper LineX'd, painted and installed. I opted for the black premium finish from LineX. Overall, the job is OK - not perfect, as I can easily spot places where they oversprayed and built up a thickish spot - not a big deal, and certainly not worth a revisit to the shop. I'm just picky. ;)

Since I opted for the reciever hitch option, the LineX guys were unable to coat everywhere on the backside. Instead I had the body shop spray the rear of the bumper with rocker guard. Their gear is just easier to get into the nooks and crannies.

    Costs:
Bumper - $640 (added extra light recesses)
    LineX - $180
Rear spray and install - $140

Onto the pics... :D (from my phone...)

This one needs to be turned on it's side, but it'll give you an idea of the finish.

...and so I'm left with this stock bumper, undamaged, though slightly scuffed from the bump last fall... FWIW, the stocker weighs about half what the BFF unit weighs.

Did you have any trouble mounting it with the line-x on it? Somebody else had a tough time putting on slidders that had been line-x'ed due to tight clearences. Looks awesome, thats definately the bumper I want. I just hate to have to pay to ship it cross country.

No idea - the shop handled the install. I suspect there wasn't an issue because I didn't LineX the mounts - those were simply shot with rocker guard - much thinner.

Shipping might not be as bad as you think. It only cost me $65 from Californa to Washington state. ;)
