Got yah! Now am I losing HP because of the dual exhausts? And what about Mangaflow and Borla? Would those lose HP as well?

The only Daul exhaust (cat back) that I have seen gain any h.p. was useing a muffler from a Tundra, and it was a custom design. Magnaflow gained a couple of h.p., Borla was the same. The most gain from a cat back I have seen was when used with a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler. I think it was 6 or so h.p..

Well, alot of exhaust companies still try and sell people on "Lower back pressure", which, back in the 60's and 70's, seemed to improve on performance. But, back then, they were improveing performance on larger less eficient engines. Exhaust scavenging only started to come into light in the 80's and 90's. Now, as engines are constantly monitored by the ECU, manufactures can tune every aspect of the engine for best performance AND efficiency. Many people dont realize that the air comming into an engine, and all the way thru to the exhaust tip, has a role in the performance of the engine. Intakes are tuned. Exhaust systems are tuned. There ARE limitations that can be improved upon, as manufactures have to keep everything under a certain decible level. Performance CAN be increased. Flowmasters are a baffled muffler. they deliver a "sound" at the sacrifice of h.p. Some of the better performing mufflers dont sound that good, especially on the Tacoma V6 and 4 popper, but they improve performance. Not by much, maybe 5 or so h.p., but its an improvement none the less.

    Absolutly not. :)
Flowmaster makes a quality product, and they ARE one of the better sounding ones out there.

Just the cat-back and/or muffler will make very little difference.

Headers and/or good intake combined with the right exhaust however can give modest HP gains.

I will be installing my URD MAF calibrator while installing the 02 simulator and LT headers in hopes of getting the max performance/mpg out of my truck. There are enough guys now successfully using (and sharing MAF settings) that learning the software and proper tuning shouldnt be as big of a deal as it once was....hopefully...lol..
