I think it is worth the money, about 70% as a tool, and 30% as a neat toy.

What is the current group buy price? I ordered mine from Amazon since I was getting some books. I ordered on a Tuesday night 06-19 about 10:00 pm or so and had it Thursday by noon,~ 38 hours later. never got anything that fast, and I am still waiting on the last 1 of the 6 books I ordered. Price was 159.95 total OTD which I believe was $5.00 higher than the group buy, which was over at that time.

So, where did you (or where do you plan to) mount your scanners? The manufacturer suggests that, with the Tacoma, a great place to put it is on top of the steering column. Your thoughts?

Mine is on top of the column, w/velcro. Had to tilt/telescope column to allow viewing cluster. Looks a little out of place with the sharp 90º corners, wished it was rounded off a bit. Did remove it once to run and then clear code on wifes Trailblazer a couple weeks ago for a bad coil pack, now wish I had purchased extra cable, although it was pretty easy to remove cable. I ran cable from diagnostic port for about 8", then coiled up all but approx 2-2.5'. Removed flip open mini storage pocket and placed coiled up cable behind storage pocket door and ran remainder up and out of slot at top of column. and pluged it in. It does help to force a slight bend (mild kink) in cable to take the preload off the cable that wants to force the ScanGauge to tilt forward. Works great.............

I velcroed mine inside that little tray below and to the right of the steering column. I like the factory look, so this works well. You can see the display through the bottom right cut out in the steering wheel. Out of plain sight and functional.

    OBDII code reader AND:
    -MPG
-MPH (with correction for tire size)
    -RPM
    -Water temp
    -intake temp
    -throttle position
    -open/closed loop
    -engine load
    -daily trip
-current trip (engine on to engine off)
-"trips" include max rpm, max speed, avrg speed, avrg mpg, distance, gallons used
-tank mpg, gallons used, gallons to empty, miles to empty

As well as some custom "x-gauges" you can program in later for tranny temp, horsepower, etc.

There's more, but you get the idea.

I love mine. I have mounted mine above the rear-view mirror on something called a blendmount.

I am 3/4th of the way through writing and formatting the DIY write-up with photos and instructions for it. It should be up and posted before Christmas.

Phantom, are you sure it is slated to do 0-60 and 1/4 mile times? I've not heard of them writing the code for that. Perhaps you are confusing it with the dashhawk?

We are supposed to be doing a group buy in the spring, though I don't know that the group buy will be a significant savings over the normal $159 including shipping price.

3in1 posts on TN (he sells them). Horsepower is available now as well as some others. Tranny temp is too, or will be soon. I don't remember. He'll post them up on TN as soon as it's available. I have the old SG 1 so the X-Gauge codes are useless for me.

    Scan Gauge.
Looks good. I'm undecided as to where I should mount my Scan Gauge, but this looks nice. What did you use to mount it?

i just used the velcro and attached it to the headliner. doesn't move at all and will not fall off. it will be fine as long as you don't take it off like 100 times.

I have a DashHawk and I love it. It does everything the Scangauge does but then also offers 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. It is $300 new though. I picked up mine on ebay for about $180.

That dashhawk, it's an OBDII reader as well? And can clear codes? I might have to keep an eye on eBay for one for the truck. (SG lives in the car now since it keeps throwing CEL's)
