Just checked my Bridgestone/Firestone Tire manual and it sates "that if your spare is the same size, load range, and type of tire as your 4 tires you should include it in your tire rotation".

Why cross to the front? I've always crossed to the back. I was always told there is less chance of picking up a vibration in the steering wheel that way. You have tires already used to rolling that direction up front.

Most economical, if you have 5 matching wheels, is a full 5-wheel rotation, crossing.

Over enough time, it will even pay back the cost of the matching wheel, since you now get full use out of all 5 tires, rather than 4, and a 5th that sits there and rots, so if you normally get 80,000 miles on a set of tires, adding the 5th tire to the rotation pushes that to 100,000.

    Only problem on newer Tacos?
There are only 4 TPMS sensors. You won't throw a light, but 4/5ths of the life of the truck, you'll have a "dead" tire on the road and a TPMS sensor in the spare.
You can add the 5th sensor, but you'll need to manually reprogram the ECU every time you rotate since the new trucks can't be programmed to accept 5 sensors.

But now you have to buy 5 tires, not 4.... same difference.

You still have to replace the spare every 3-5 years.

When I bought my 2013, dealer told me there was a TPMS sensor in the spare. And if I get a TPMS code I can't get to go away, to check the spare.

    Don't listen to that dealer.

Unless they put it back, the 5th sensor was eliminated in 2009 or 2010.
