I would like some input on the BEST way to do a 3inch lift. I know nothing about this sort of thing. I have a 2012 tacoma TRD Offroad. I want to do this Right. Read SO many different things that I am now confused.

Also if you Lift does it void your Warranty???

Best is relative, do you drive rocky trails? Blast through the desert? Describe what you want to do ( your driving style) and how much you can spend.

To do a good 3 in lift, you should get replacement upper control arms (UCAs) and replace your leafs instead of using blocks.

Just give us more info and we can help. It's like what is the best gun to get? Depends on what you want to shoot

I was going to do the 5100's but I only have 3 leaf spring on rear. 2012 tacoma don't have the upgrade thing.

Do a Toytec or OME kit. "Cheaper" but good options. Avoid spacers.

No, not at all. Don't let the ticket writers at the dealership try and sell you that nonsense.

Best way to lift is with your legs, not your back.

Well I just got mine back today and I am very pleased I did a lot of research on this site and changed my mind a couple of times. When the guys say its a better then stock ride they are correct, I found the stock ride to be stiff and choppy now it is firm but when you blast over a speed bump "the big ones in the neighborhood" you feel the difference very plush feeling. here is what I did.

    FRONT:

    5100 billies at stock setting
    OME 885's
    Light racing UCA's
wheelers spacers 13mm on left & 10mm on right
    diff drop

    REAR:
    Wheelers 2 inch AAL
    Carrier drop
    5100 billies

I measured my clearance on all four corners but I will wait till my fuel is at the same spot before I remeasure and then after a few months I will measure to if it settles. you can see in the first my lift in the back:) next will be wheels and tires.

here is a before and after.

decent set up, although the general consensus is that the diff drop does nothing for 2nd gens.

Using a Wheeler's 3-leaf AAL is the only other change I'd make to this setup.

That is just what I want. Thank You. Now can you tell me where to get all this from and how much? Do you have the 3 leaf spring in rear?

ToyTec and Wheeler's for me. Guys at Wheelers were really cool to talk to. Can't tell you the exact cost...$1K plus/minus with UCAs and lift kit.

I run the 3-leaf AAL on the stock 3-leaf pack with the overload intact. Rides really smooth. Never heard anyone say they didn't regret spending a little extra for it.

Do yourself a favor and don't skimp on UCAs. In-spec alignment numbers aren't good enough. You need 2.5-3* of caster. A lifted Taco can handle as good as (if not better) than stock.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys, I racked my mind tryn to find the right set up because there are so many options to go with and a little nerve racking for me to start with such a new truck.

The dakars are Old Man Emus rear leaf springs a very good progressive leaf spring pack with good flex and weight/load bearing there about $500 shipped give or take.
