What is the best sounding flowmaster muffler for the 4.0? also what inlet/outlet size and position i should get? And can I swap the mufflers without having to add pipe?

if you like loud and nasty no resonator like my old 4 banger. or go with a resonator and enjoy a more refined sound.

my 2.7 liter sounded absolutely nasty!

I went with a 40 series. 2.5 inlet and 2.5 outlet. I had a shop do the install, the swap was fairly simple, but they did have to add a small length of pipe due to the flowmaster being shorter than the factory muffler.
