With the standard 6 ply tires "C" rating max PSI = 44, therefor 35-40 is perfectly fine, but! changing from 35-40 is not going to be a dramatic difference.

Load Range "E" is not recommended for tacoma trucks being they are 10-ply so they can handle a heavier payload @ max 8- psi. That being said they are heavier and typically a rougher ride.
I believe my tired are "D" rated 8-plys.

ply is a outdated term used back in the day when tires actually had 8 or 10 plys.

New tires do no use this term.

my E load tires are three ply.

I was thinking about making the switch to AT KO's, especially before snow season. That or I am going to sipe these tires but that's another story.

Anyway, thanks for all the advice. I run them at 35psi, so maybe i will put it up to 40 and see what happens there. I'll tune it up, drive normal, and see what happens next.

Made a dramatic difference on my truck and I have not seen a 285/75/16 in a KM2 in any load range but E. I suppose I better take them back since they are not recommended? You should start a thread and tell everyone on here running that tire that they or not recommended.

Anyway OP all I'm saying is I run my KM2 LOAD RANGE E at 40psi and it makes a difference. It's worth trying out, air is free.

Cool post up later after a tank or two and let us know your thoughts. I would be interested to see if others share the positive experience I had with simple air pressure.

    Ply is an outdated term??

Perhaps you should poke your head into a tire store once in a while. You may learn a thing or two. Considering i did end of the month inventory check last Saturday on "NEW" tires listed with ply ratings.....

Load rating has nothing to do with size. Some tires only have a E rating. EX . Most Toyo MTs are 10 ply "Load range E"...

Your truck stock did not come with load range E tires in case you didn't read your manual. Your choice to lift your truck etc is not factory recommended.

You just like hearing yourself type? You have nothing of value to add and you are completely off topic so get back to world of war craft and leave to OP's thread alone.

I swear you should have to have a license to post online and there should be internet police to pass out citations to those select few individuals who have nothing better to do than run their suck.

Can't we all just get along. Thank you everyone for what you contributed. I'm going to try several of the ideas and see what happens after a few weeks (as I don't drive it all that much). Fresh slate everyone, fresh slate....

Please cut me up a Toyo MT and show me the 10 ply's??????????

They don't have 10 plys because "ply" is a outdated term the way you are using it!!!!

Holy sh*t you head is thick and full of crap. Try eating some brain food. This isn't rocket science we are talking about.

Here is a explanation for idiots:

Ply ratings identify the load carrying capabilities of a tire in terms of plies. Ply rating originally referred to the number of cotton layers used to strengthen a tire's casing. Today, when tires are labeled 10-ply, they are not actually constructed of 10 individual layers of cotton, but offer the equivalent strength.

Passenger tires are currently constructed from one or two body plies, while light truck tires consist of two to three, or one steel ply.

Over time, steel ply and radial construction replaced cotton leading to a new distinction, load range.

Load range identifies the maximum amount of weight that can be placed on a tire horizontally, which varies depending on tire size and inflation limits.

Thus PLY is old school crap that doesn't apply to a hill of beans UNLESS your actually talking about the actual layers of the tire

For the record, I have to use 2 Ply because that single ply shi# falls apart in my hands and usually leaves skidmarks in ma pants. Wait, what are we talking about here....???

I blame the OP for starting this shit :D

Use a GPS to track actual milage for now against gallons of gas. I went through the same thing going from the stock 245 to 265 tires.
I am sure they put on smaller tires when they sell them so gas milage looks better.
