So for about a month now my truck is having trouble cranking, like it would with a dead or dieing battery. However problem is my battery is new. Already been checked and cleared that. Changed my plugs, and its still having problems. Is this the possibility of a fuel pump problem? Didn't know if the life went out of one around 80k? Or is there something else you can suggest. No codes are being thrown. Runs great after cranking/ alternators fine. Note: When it struggles I have too tap the gas pedal a few times and it cranks.

If it runs fine after then it is not the fuel pump or filter. Does it seem to turn over very quickly or very slowly when starting?

Sounds like a fuel pump issue to me. Possibly a partially clogged filter...Urd sells a walboro pump that drops in and has an external replaceable filter unlike the factory unit which has the filter in the tank. Think it runs around 150 for the whole kit.

Sometimes a buildup of gunk in the throttle body can cause a hard start. The ECM varies the throttle on this model instead of using an idle air controller to maintain idle. I would first take a tooth brush and a can of carb clean or throttle body cleaner to the throttle body and make it look shiny. Your engine will idle higher for about a day until it re adjusts.

Hold the throttle plate open with your finger Or a long screwdriver with the engine off while performing the cleaning. It will probably start a little hard after you are done because some of the cleaner gets in the intake.
