I got flashed after lifting a lot. Then I adjusted them. I flashed a tundra last night that was lifted with hids . That asshole was blinding the shit outa me.

I have a 13 and I have been flashed many times. And now that I put my 5100's in my lights are really high I need to adjust them bad I know there blinding people cause I can see it in there rear view mirror. Anyone have that PDF file on adjusting headlights and fogs my fogs are high too

No need for a PDF.

1 - Park on a level surface 20ft away from a flat wall.

2 - Measure from the ground to the focal point of the reflector (center of the lamp or glare shield)

3 - Put a piece of tape on the wall at that height.

4 - Turn on the lights, and adjust until the lower cutoff is 2.1 inches below the reference line.

If you have trouble seeing the cutoff, unplug or hang a hat over one of the lights while you work on the other one.
On the Tacoma, the top adjuster with the hinged cap is for horizontal. The other adjuster, down lower in a "channel" of sorts is vertical. You'll need a fairly long crosspoint screwdriver.



As for those only getting flashed by "small cars"... exactly how small are they?
Proper adjustment of 2.1" below center at 20ft will translate to almost 2ft below center at 200ft. That's Federal.

Laws vary by state, but maximum headlight height is somewhere between 44 and 54 inches.
That means that a properly adjusted headlight will have a lower cutoff (the side oncoming traffic sees) that is absolutely no higher than 33" high at 200ft (23" high in Colorado).

There aren't too many cars on the road where the bottom of their window is much below 33".

Thanks for the info man, how hard awas ur retrofit? I thought I read somewhere you said that the projectors you used we're almost plug and play is that true or was I daydreaming?

Remove the lamp, split the housings, twiddle with the mounting rings to get them onto the reflectors and lined up, snug it down, put the housing back together, and install.

If you paint the reflector, I'd let it cure for a couple of days or cook it before reassembly.
Cooking the paint, the project CAN be completed in a day, but I'd prefer to plan for a weekend, and in my case, I ordered new Depo housings from Amazon because my 5 year old housings were getting pretty dull.

I have not been flashed by a single truck or suv. I believe one mini van. This is as best as I remember but I Gave a list of cars. Subaru, insight, prius, fiat. That was after I began tracking or paying attention to. I will be back at dealership in 2000 miles. We can check again. I might call to determine what spec is. See how it is checked. I just drove behind my brother for over an hour and he said no problems. He drives a fairly new impala. Have a great night guys.

TRS Morimoto D2S projectors using the Philips 4300k burner (same lamp that many automakers use) and 35w Morimoto ballasts.

Group buys on these are frequent.

Output compared to stock is nice.
The light is more even and a bit stronger where it's needed, but it's not scattered where it's not needed. Very easy on the eyes.

Headlight adjustment


I found the lights shinning into the back of smaller cars, so I lowered
them on my 2012 4X4.

When I did a Google search on how to adjust the headlight there was just
baloney. Upon second look found the adjustment on the lower outside
part of the assembly - 8mm nut. Moving the window washer reservoir
made it easier on the right side.

Cutoff is way too too high if anything "lifts" the beam. Cresting low hills, hauling a load or pulling a tailer send these bright beams right into oncoming eyes. Thanks for the input on location of adjust screw. Ive been lazy, and flashed often.
